GD's Clan Matches
By: Toby937 Date: August 9, 2011, 7:26 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Having random thinking time to myself earlier (not like that you
dirty gits!) and had an idea.
What with the upcoming release of Modern Warfare 3 would anybody
be interested in forming a Gamerdads Clan for that game?
For me Im talking Xbox but it could work for PS3 too.
I know the whole idea of GD's is about fun gaming for the more
mature gamer, however after playing Blops and many other games
with you guys, its apparent that some are fiercely competetive
:).
The idea would be to form a small team, say maybe 8 (6
regulars/2 reserves) and take on other clans from the CoD
community in a competetive manner.
With the release of CoD Elite, setting up these kind of matches
would be an absolute doddle.
It will spread the good news of Gamerdads around the community
like the disciples of Jesus himself, and do you know why?
Because when a group of Gamerdads go pub stomping we win 99% of
the time.
The communication, teamwork and enthusiasm amongst the players
is fantastic, and a pleasure to be a part of.
When we play as a team, we are good, there is no doubting that
and I think we could do well at a competetive level
The thing is though, this kind of thing may not be for everyone,
and does move away from the mantra of Gamerdads slightly, as it
would be competetive, and perhaps even 'elitist' due to only a
small number of players being able to get in the matches.
However the pro's surely outweigh the cons, competing against
other sites, clans and communities will only help to spread word
of our beloved website and it might make some little kids sit
back and realise that us older guys can engage beastmode when we
feel the need!
It would be great if we could set one up for BF3 too. However
there would be more leg work involved in that one to find other
teams to play against.
So what say you Gamerdads? Would anybody be interested in doing
this? Is it straying to far from what we are? Or merely taking
our gaming interests further?
I dunno, I just think that we play very well as teams and it
would be good to see how we get on against other clans :D

Count me out for PS3. I've been in clans before and the mud
throwing that goes on when you lose a game easily outweighs the
good times.
I don't mean that should put anyone else off, just wanted to
state where I stood before I was volunteered for running PS3
side of things ;)

While I have absolutely no problem which people setting upna
clan I do have a few requests.
If things were to escalate into 'throwing mud' please to do not
use the the forums as I will remove our support from it purely
because this site is about having fun while gaming. I realise
some people find competitive gaming fun but argueing about
losing is not fun for anyone.
I would also request that any clan matches does not interfere
with the fun GDs nights. We don't want any new comers to think
it's a clan when they can just play as and when they feel.
If that's all understood then rock and roll and I shall support
GDs clan in any matches they play

It was just an idea :)
Guess there is nothing to worry about though as no one seems
interested, normal service can resume...

I was just about to say I'd be intersted in the BF3 side of it,
if it was to come about. Im afraid i wont be purchasing CoD this
year. Simply had enough of the problems that constantly follow
it as a franchise and unfortunately the majority of people who
play it. Its one of the reasons I joined this site, to find
people i actually enjoy playing with and the only time ill ever
put Blops back in the xbox is for the Tues night sessions. I
also feel that from my experience the battlefield community
seems alittle more chilled out and i think I'd enjoy it more.

Yeah Id be really keen to get a BF3 team together. The teamwork
and comms element is what I love about it anyway.
I hope something comes about, Id really enjoy that.

I've held off replying to this until I saw what others said
first, but not many have replied (boo)
I think that the worries about "mud throwing" are needless and
brought up far too quickly and I just don't see that happening
with us. I say that having rage quit the blops night last week
cz of campers, but nobody complains or says anything bad to
their team mates.
concerns about that makes me imagine a scene of bigger kids
walking onto the playground of the younger and playing too rough
lol. "oh noez". if the idea did happen and it was more
competitive why would people suddenly become dickheads? "you
suck toby, you can't even capture B", that stuff just wouldn't
happen.
to clarify, this would be somewhere above pub matches and
friendly matches but below MLG style ladders? my reaction to
more competitive matches isn't one of great excitement but I
guess I might participate if it were to happen
but for now my focus is on pub stomping: this tends to happen
only after the blops night for about an hour as far as I'm
aware. but apart from that I don't think its common to see GDs
team up and play pub matches? I know toby that you play with
deadslay and his other friends. maybe it would be an idea for a
group of GDs to first team up in pub matches more often before
taking a jump forward into the more competitive side? I would
like more pub matches as a group, it might help me enjoy COD
more again. I'd rather rage at strangers for their cheap tactics
than our own on a tuesday night
I dunno, that's my thoughts but I think this more competitive
side can work within the site's framework if people want it.
nobody has trolled their team mates and it wouldn't start. I can
see the team work aspect being fun, that is why I play fifa
almost solely just for clubs now
I've probably confused you all with what I've said on whether or
not I like the idea,
so out of 7 I would give it a 4 or a 5 but the more I think
about it the more I like it

Ok to clarify.
Basically a bit of friendly competition is what im after. Like
when we used to play UKD on a tueday night, like the PS3 against
hope gaming.
An opportunity to team up and play together, for laughs , for
kicks.
We could play against other websites, mature gaming clans (will
be easy to find on CoD Elite) anybody who fancies a bit of
friendly competition.
Obviously there would be no need to approach Optic Gaming and
say 'well have ya''.
I have never once on this site heard anybody kick off at a team
mate for losing (not on CoD anyhoo :D)
I understand your reservations Baz if youve had bad experiences
before.
But I like to think all here at Gamerdads are above that kind of
behaviour.
But as I said, its an idea.
Id happily go pub stomping with other GD memebers in the
meantime.
