This is without a doubt the Racing game that evolutionised
       racers in its time.
Released in 1989 to a beying crowd of Sonic die hards and
altered beast wannabe's this game dived into the market nose
held and it rose to the surface smelling of roses.
From the get go things remain pretty simple. You simply select
your gear setup and off you go. Now there are two race types.
Simulator or arcade. Arcade gives you a position limiter, Fall
below this and your out. You start as i recall in the ferrenzi
       (Ferrari).
The simulation gives you a 3rd tier car Minarae and you can
finish in any position (Up to 20th) but can challenge race
drivers. Beat them twice on the trot and you win their seat in
their respective teams car. Win the season and yoou get into the
       Madonna (mclaren) team.
After this your 2nd season starts with a challenger G.Ceara from
Dardan who is practically impossible to beat! If you win the 2nd
       season you beat the game.
What i loved about this game was the fact that the cars actually
performed noticably differently and it was the first racing game
that allowed you to challenge and take over aanother drivers
car. Beating the smug upper tier drivers and watching them take
your Minarae seat was totally priceless! Then when they
challenged you back and wiped the floor with them in their old
Superior car was all the more exhillarating!
Back in its day there was a magazine called Electronic Gaming
monthly which was my regular rag and this gave Monaco GP an at
the time unprecedented review score of 10-10-9-9 rating. (95%)
and 93% from mean machines magazine.
This game was amazing for its time and is still one of my faves!
My rating: 9/10 Ahhhh the nostalgia.
