PS3 Bit The Dust
By: Notorious DHG Date: March 5, 2011, 10:13 am

Hope someone here can maybe help me out?
I have a PS3 (old style) and just after the warranty expired (as
I'm sure has to happen by law) it stopped working. You turn it
on and get an orange screen with multi-language message in white
saying there's an error and to contact Sony. I did so and they
said there would be a 'Small charge' of £150. I told them there
would be a smaller charge of bugger all 'coz they could shove
it. Anyway...can anything be done about this? I hardly used it,
I do all my gaming on Xbox, just used it now and again to watch
full-screen Iplayer or blu-rays and I know virtually nothing
about the PS3.
Thanks for any help you can offer, folks.

It`s called the red screen of death I`ve read it`s unfixable in
most cases though some people have had success restoring the
file system as it can be caused by the audio settings.
Instuctions here :

.
I`d turn it off at the back first though and after holding down
the buttons, choose option number three when you get the menu up
and if it doesn`t work try it a few times as it doesn`t always
work first time and may not work at all. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input guys. Tried resetting it several times,
still kaput. Don't think I'm gonna bother fixing it, I hardly
use it. Might see if one of the dudes on the market can fix it.
Thanks for your advice. :)
