Do you remember Fighting Fantasy book series by Steve Jackson
and Ian Livingstone. Cast your minds back to 1982 when the first
one was published by Puffin and was called ‘The Warlock of
       Firetop Mountain’.
Since then over 60 books were published. But in the 1990’s when
PC/Console gaming came to the forefront, the books died away.
The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and Legend of Zagor were
released as board games by Games Workshop.
Several of the Fighting Fantasy titles have been released as
video games, including seven Fighting Fantasy titles:
       The Warlock of Firetop Mountain
       The Citadel of Chaos
       The Forest of Doom
       Temple of Terror
       Seas of Blood
       Appointment with F.E.A.R
       Rebel Planet
These were released on the Commodore 64, Amstrad, BBC, and
       Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
Deathtrap Dungeon video game for the PC and PlayStation by Eidos
       Interactive in 1998.
On the 5th December 2006, it was announced that Steve Jackson
and Ian Livingstone were planning to release a new series of
video games based on Fighting Fantasy for Nintendo DS and Sony's
PSP. The first of these, Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of
Firetop Mountain, was released for the DS on the 25th November
2009, and for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch in early January
       2010.

Now Pinewood Studios based software developers Worldweaver Ltd
have just released the first major interactive fiction title for
       the Kindle e-book reader.
“The Warlock of Firetop Mountain” is the first title in the
popular Fighting Fantasy gamebook series by Steve Jackson and
Ian Livingstone. The books have been adapted to make use of the
Kindle's computing abilities, handling the dice rolls, scoring
and inventory. There is also an automatic mapping system that
shows the reader’s current location and route they have taken
through the dungeons. The authors have been closely involved in
the adaptation to help keep the original atmosphere of the games
       on the new device.
“Having been a big fan of the Fighting Fantasy series when it
was first released, it was great to discover the Kindle can not
only display the book but also augment it,” said Chris Sterling,
CEO of Worldweaver. “Removing the need for a pen, paper and
dice means that the books can now be enjoyed anywhere. We hope
that the Kindle version will bring the fun of gamebooks to a
whole new generation of readers, as well as reigniting the magic
for those of us who remember the original books.”
Work is already underway on the next book in the series, "The
Citadel of Chaos", with a new book from the series to be adapted
every month. More information on the Fighting Fantasy series
and the Kindle adaptations can be found at:

Nice! I still have some of these books floating round. On a
interesting sidenote Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone went on
to found the ungodly empire that is Games Workshop. Thought
neither of them have anything to do with it these days.
Ian Livingstone is currently Life President of Eidos Interactive
and Steve Jackson currently works for Lionhead Studios.

I had no idea they had founded Games Workshop, or what they had
gone on to do - very interesting.
I used to be into the books. I think I had about 10-15.
Deathtrap dungeon was my first, in `84 and pretty much
kickstarted my love of that type of genre I think.
Yes, I used to be into the books as

I used to read these books as a kid,, lol i remember taking them
into school for reading time with a couple of dice and annoying
the teacher so much i was forbidden to bring the dice back as i
was " disrupting " the class.
Great books that id put to the back of my head untill now.
never realised the two writers had anything to do with the
       gaming industry.

That DS game seems cool, kind of reminds me of the elder scroll
       series!
