COD:Black Ops DLC Announced-your thoughts?

Hello all,
You may have seen this story already (via NowGamer):
Dan Bunting, more commonly known as the producer of Call of
Duty: Black Ops has now announced the release of the game’s
first downloadable content release.
The DLC, properly titled “First Strike” will strike gamers on
February 1st, 2011. This release will be exclusive to Xbox
Live, initially. The new maps will run gamers 1200 Microsoft
Points, but will feature four multiplayer maps and one new
zombie adventure.
“The new map pack will be exclusive to Xbox Live, initially.”
Each map will take place in unique and refined environments.
“Berlin Wall,” one of the new maps, takes place at Checkpoint
Charlie, a commonly-known crossing point between East Berlin and
West Berlin during the Cold War. “Discovery” is another
artic-based map – it takes place in a snow-riddled German
research station. “Kowloon” is based on a single player mission
in China, and the final map, “Stadium,” will take place in a
hockey rink.

Here are screenshots of three of the four new maps included in
the upcoming Black Ops First Strike map pack. These are the
loading screens for Berlin Wall, Discovery and Stadium – the
files for which were found lurking on the games disc.

Yes you read that right-as per many games this last year or so,
it seems we are being charged extra to unlock content already on
the game disc (please note it has not yet been proven that the
actual maps themselves are on the BLOPS disc-only the loading
screens have been found so far, but this HAS occured before on
quite a few AAA titles and the evidance points to the liklyhood
of the maps being hidden away on the disc somewhere...)
As consumers what do we think of this/DLC in general?
Are you going to buy the map packs for this game?
Is the 1200MSP price point too high?-if so, what would be a more
resonable price?

The Gaming Industry has all us gamers by the short and curlies
when it comes to DLC.
If you read up on this download, these maps are actually on the
disc already, and all your doing is buying (for 1200MSP) the
unlock key.
Why does Activision charge for DLC when EA gives it away for
free for BFBC2?
I am sure that we will all say ‘we will not buy it’, and then we
will due to peer pressure online and wanting to keep up with the
Jones’s, and not miss out!
I doubt that this will ever change, as long as they can make
money out of us and make us play a game that is laggy and
bug-ridden!
I say viva la revolution, let us all go back to the Speccy and
C64!

This is a joke! Not only is the ps3 version broken, to add salt
to the wounds, the 360 get the DLC before us and its already on
the fucking disc!!!!
I would buy the DLC if it came out at the same time but because
activision want even more money and are willing to get into bed
with microsoft then fuck them. They robbed us all of £40+ and
now will want another £6-10 off us (well 360 first). Do they
even need more money after over charging us for a beta version
of a game that should be released in around 6 months time?
Sorry for the rant but its gone on too far. Only if the gaming
industry and gamers would stand up to these terrible releases
and over charged DLC and boycott activision into listening to
us.

Here Here. I agree entirely. I only bought this as i bowed down
to peer pressure from a friend of mine. Its a not bad game but
this info doesnt surprise me one bit! Theres no way in hell they
would have had time to code 4 new maps in such short time so the
data is blatantly already on the disk!! I think EVERYONE should
boycott the DLC. Sod that im going back to BFBC2 and Vietnam!!!

Black Ops has already been relegated to dust collector for me so
not a snowballs chance I'm getting this. I am however getting
BFBC2 which iv yer to hear a bad word about and since the
Vietnam maps have received many 9&9.5/10 ratings that's where my
money will be going.
BTW Microsofts exclusive with CoD lasts till 2012 so youre gonna
keep getting annoyed for another year.

Microsoft are bastards. The only reason they want the DLC first
is to try and get people to make the switch to the 360. The fact
that the game works on the 360 is a good enough reason to switch
atm so the DLC is pointless this year.
The only reason I still have BLOPS is because I think if they
game worked, it would be a pretty decent fps. I play MAG but the
games can be a little too long depending on what mode you play
and thats one of the reasons i like BLOPS.
Anyone is welcome to join us on MAG if you want but be warned,
the guys I play with are very good and scoring points is hard
lol. Also if a clan member comes on and we need room then you
will be asked to give up the place.

I never understand that attitude. MS are a business and a bloody
successful one. The entire reason for their existence is to part
you with your money. If you've a problem with that then keep
your wallet closed.
Everybody should be angrier at Sony for not demanding the
problems be fixed and for not fighting to get in on the
exclusives.
Either way I think we can all tak it or granted that 1200MSP map
packs are here to stay.

funny how the 360 players defend the company ripping them off.
The reason im pissed at M$ for getting the DLC first is more to
do with activision than M$. I just hate companies who throw
money at people just for a very small percentage extra. I know
everyone on my psn will not buy a 360 for blops DLC so I cant
see it being a advantage for them.
I hope you enjoy spending your 1200 M$ points to buy content
thats already on the disc. I will just use cash/card when its
the ps3's turn.

I never buy the maps anyway so it`s of little concern to me, if
people want to buy them, then good luck to them. If my memory
serves me correctly the 360 had the DLC first for MW2 as well so
I`m not quite sure why the outrage this year? It`s not as if it
hadn`t happened before.
