wow, sca guys would cream them. Blocking a spear is a simple
matter of sweeping it aside with a longsword or greatsword. A
real sword and shield not that pathetic targe, makes a spear
obsolete, as you simply pin it. As I was told and shown, you
can run faster forwards than your opponent can run backwards so
aggressiveness is the name of the game. Once inside the spears
reach that guy is screwed. another problem with a spear is its
a one trick pony...stab, stab and also some more stab. Once one
figures this out it become much easier to defeat them. Don't
get me wrong a spear wall was a force to be reckoned with, but a
guy alone with a spear vrs a guy who knows what to do with a
sword odds are not so good for the spearman. Its not like what
they show in the video at all. Also one more point in close
combat in a battle field a spear is all but useless with no room
to wheeled it, and a guy with a breast plate and a few other
items of armour would keep advancing as a spear thrust not on
horse back is not insufficient to penetrate plate armor of any
kind. But a neat video of novices playing with ancient weapons.
