Hi sir, I am Kapilarn from software engineering currently in
industrial training. I have a couple of questions regarding the
FYP.
1. What type of projects are we allowed to do, whether it has to
be a completely new concept or a normal project to create
applications that companies will use from day to day basis? I am
having industrial training in a manufacturing company. So what
type of projects can I propose to do for them?
2. Do I form a group of three now by contacting my classmates or
I will have to wait for the classes to begin.
3. When is the first class starting, is it in the final week of
March, starting 26th or first week of April, starting 2nd?
Because if it is final week of March, then there is a clash with
the industrial training period.
4. If there are 3 people in a group, all from different company
for industrial training, how we determine which project to
undertake?
In short, I need detailed clarification on the process involved
in FYP in order for me to propose possible projects to my
company.

programme you are enrolled in - see attached. Yes, you may do a
project with them. however, it has to be clearly scoped. pls,
see me on this for specific guidance. do complete the project
brief for a start. We discourage students doing basic web
development. You are encouraged to embark on projects to do with
IoT, AI, blockchain, cloud, mobile, healthcare, etc that are
contemporary. Nonetheless, we still accept any other project as
long as it is meant for a company (defined/validated problem).

However, pls understand that the group assignment is not final
as it depends heavily on the nature of the project.

Hi Sir,
Just wondering, is our FYP project supposed to be only carried
out by us? What if the company who gives us the project wants to
participate in its development or something like that?

This is possible. However, it is all the more important that the
project boundary is clearly spelt out and scoped and the project
brief document that I sent earlier must be completed so that we
know clearly what outcomes are we expected to accomplish.

Hello Sir,
I am Ian Gan from CCSF, Currently i am doing a project with my
internship company, apparently i still have one month left for
my internship and i am unable to finish the project. Can i use
the company's project as my FYP? and my internship Company
supervisor as the supervisor as well?

Hi Ian,
This may not be possible as the objectives and learning outcomes
of the internship are different from FYP.
However, pls see me in person for me to understand better and
discuss this further.

Hello sir,
My internship company wants to know the extent of their
involvement in the project if they were to provide us with a
project for FYP. They're wondering if they are only meant to
provide a project and business requirements, etc. and allow us
to work on it, or if they're supposed to play a more
involved/active role in development.

Hi Sir,
May I know what’s the obligation of the industry supervisor or
the role of the company in FYP? Do they need to keep on
monitoring us, supporting us, pay us or what they need to do
with this project?

HI, their involvement is not active. but yes we expect someone
at their end that we should we all be in touch with. business
requirements are welcome to understand the nature of business.
they can plan an active involvement (and encouraged) but that's
not expected.
