       I'm starting with ANTIBACTERIALS!
       1.  SPARFLOXACIN
       General Information
       Sparfloxacin is a fluoroquinolone used for treating infections
       such as urinary tract and prostate gland infections, it also
       used in the treatment of chronic bronchitis, sinus, pneumonia
       and soft skin infections. Older people with reduced kidney
       function should take lower doses of this drug. Another reason
       for a lower Sparfloxacin dosage for older people is its slower
       rate of excretion in them.
       Caution
       Fluoroquinolones such as Sparfloxacin should be prescribed/used
       judiciously.
       l Resistance and allergy to fluoroquinolones can occur sometimes
       in course of their therapy.
       l Fluoroquinolones can cause central nervous system problems and
       psychosis.
       l Severe, even fatal, allergic reactions, including even the
       collapse of the circulatory system have happened after just one
       dose of fluoroquinolones.
       Vital Information Your Doctor Must Know Before Prescribing
       Sparfloxacin
       Whether you have the following problems/conditions.
       l Allergies to drugs.
       l Epilepsy or seizures.
       l Kidney alone or kidney and liver problems.
       l Slow heart beat, heart disease, abnormal heart rhythm..
       l Brain or spinal cord disease.
       l Pregnant or trying to get pregnant.
       l Lactating.
       l Any other drug prescription or non-prescription that you might
       be taking.
       Safe usage
       l Do not take Sparfloxacin while drinking alcohol.
       l Never take more than the recommended doses of Sparfloxacin.
       l Take Sparfloxacin with 250-300 ml of water.
       l Should you miss a dose take it when you remember, but try to
       avoid it if it is time for the next dose, never take double
       doses.
       l If you are on Sparfloxacin medication, avoid any activity that
       requires your alertness.
       l If you plan to have any surgery, including dental and you are
       on Sparfloxacin medication, do not
       forget to tell your doctor that you take this drug.
       l TAKE All THE SPARFLOXACIN YOUR DOCTOR PRESCRIBED, EVEN IF YOU
       FEEL
       BETTER. IF YOU STOP TOO SOON, YOUR SYMPTOMS COULD COME BACK.
       l DO NOT TAKE ANTACIDS, SUCRALFATE, OR PRODUCTS CONTAINING IRON
       OR  ZINC (HEMATINIC FORMULATIONS) WITHIN TWO HOURS OF TAKING
       SPARFLOXACIN.
       Caution
       Sparfloxacin should be prescribed/used judiciously in conjuction
       with
       aminophylline and theophylline therapy.
       l When using sparfloxacin, elderly patients should adjust their,
       aminophylline or theophylline dosage, preferably reducing it by
       30% – 50% at the start of the Sparfloxacin therapy.
       l Aminophylline or theophylline levels in the blood should be
       obtained following the start of
       Sparfloxacin no later than two days into therapy.
       Drug Interactions
       Sparfloxacin should not be taken with these drugs.
       l Alurninum hydroxide.
       l Amiodarone.
       l Calcium carbonate.
       l Erythromycin.
       l Ferrous sulfate.
       l Magnesium hydroxide.
       l Quinidine.
       l Sucralfate.
       Adverse Effects of Sparfloxacin Requiring Doctor’s Attention
       l Agitation.
       l Breathing trouble.
       l Seizures.
       l Confusion and hallucinations.
       l Fever.
       l Insomnia.
       l Dizziness or lightheadedness.
       l Skin rash, itching, redness, peeling.
       l Swelling of face, neck, calves or lower legs.
       l Tremors.
       l Change in vision (inability to see red, blue).
       l Pain at site of injection.
       !Pain in calves radiating to heels.
       l Headache.
       l Rapid heartbeat.
       l Stomach upset or pain and pain in the joints.
       l Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea.
       l Increased sensitivity to sun (rash, hives, skin reactions).
       l Vaginal discharge or itching.
       Caution
       Sparfloxacin therapy is associated with increased risk of
       tendinitis.
       l When using Sparfloxacin, if you experience unexpected tendon
       pain stop taking the drug
       immediately and contact your doctor.
       l The tendinitis from Sparfloxacin use usually affects the
       Achilles tendon and is often severe enough to require surgical
       attention.
       Caution
       Sparfloxacin prolongs the QTc interval (measured by an
       electrocardiogram in
       milliseconds). Such a prolonged QTc can lead to a cardiac
       arrhythmia known commonly by the French terminology as “torsade
       de pointes”, and sudden death.
