Upcoming Journeyman League for Warmachine/Hordes - Starts 6th of
OCTOBER!

Hey all. If you've been interested in jumping into Warmachine
or Hordes or just interested in building a new faction, We're
going to be starting a Journeyman's League in three weeks -
Starting The weekend of the 6th. The rules for it can be found
here:

It's a slow grow league. You start with a battlebox and work
your way up from there. We're going to slow the pace down some
and do 2 week phases instead of one week to allow those who
might want to paint to keep up. Painting isn't a requirement
but it's encouraged and points are scored for it.
Basically, each phase you'll add a small number of points to
your army, play some games and score some points. You don't
have to play games if you can't arrange them or are too busy.
Playing games each phase isn't mandatory but you do score points
for games you play.
So to clarify, the League kicks off on the 6th, that means you
have 3 weeks from now to purchase and/or paint a battlebox. I
am allowing non epic or the recent 3rd iteration casters
initially to be substituted for box set casters if you so
desire.
Each week we'll try to have an official league day/night but
since it can be a challenge getting room at the Comic Shop, you
can play games at the church or at home and report them to me
later. Game outcomes wil also be reported on this thread for
the sake of ease of record keeping!

I'll be playing as cygnar , one of my battle box jacks had a
miscast so I'm waiting for the rest of its arm to show up in the
mail

Will not be able to start it the 29th there is a huge magic
thing goin on:/ I know they normally do their thig on Friday but
Kevin said Rey were doing it the 29th
So we will have to change te date

Im very interested in doing this as ive been looking to start
warmachine / hordes for a while now ... particularly with
Retribution of Scyrah
The only issue is that through all of my research i know the
direction i want to go in and the Battlegroup Box Set Equivalent
just isnt doing it for me. Would anyone object to just creating
a 11 point list and starting with that? Not to mention not
everything seems to be available at the comic shop currently.

slave, show me your list and I'll let you know. right now I'm
allowing players to substitute non epic or third iteration
warcasters for their battlebox casters.
rerunz, I'll check on the deal for the 29th but we could
possibly push it to the 28th if nothing else is going on. I'll
let everyone know. The key is that you don't HAVE to play at
the shop, on the day I put down. I encourage people to show up
on those preset dates but you have two weeks to get in games and
report them to me. I will keep a record of games played by each
player and so on. You can play at home, or wherever, the only
requirement is that you have to play with someone in the league,
or a proxy player.

Looking forward to playing in the Journeyman, and I think I will
try to rock Minions for a change of pace.

I'm primarily a Ret player and the Battlebox is Kaelyssa, a
Manticore, a Chimera, and a Griffin.

At smaller points minions on their own should do pretty well,
it's larger sized games they start to hurt a little. The big
thing is, people try to focus too much on the minion factions.
To play a semi effective minions army you have to go beyond
those and mix it up to strengthen your army and shore up
weaknesses. Don't be afraid to mix up hogs with gators and so
on!
Also a quick change to the date this thing is starting!
Apparently the weekend of the 29th is a huge 3 day Magic event
and they expect the shop to be full. We're going to push this
event back one week to the 6th of October! This gives everyone
an extra week to paint up their battlebox sets! If the Comic
shops comes up with a big event that saturday - the 6th, we're
still going to call that the official start date but I will be
down sunday to play games. Keep in mind it's not important that
you play games on the dates set for each phase of the league,
just that you have your miniatures painted if you want those
points. I do need to see painted miniatures the day of each
phase, so for example, the 6th I will need to see painted
miniatures for those who want those points. however, We can
remain flexible and I can meet you early to see an army if the
6th isn't good for you OR I will allow people to show up on the
7th IF there is another event blocking us out on the 6th.
