       Greenwich 52M PCN - Royal Hill SE10/Prior St SE10
By: Greenwich PCN hater Date: January 19, 2026, 5:17 am

       Hi all,
I’m hoping you can help with a PCN I’ve just received.
I received a PCN in the post dated 23 December, which arrived on
       16 January, for a 52M contravention on Royal Hill SE10 / Prior
       Street SE10.
From what I recall that evening, the warning signage was very
unclear and I wasn’t confident which direction was permitted.
I’m not familiar with the area, and it was very dark at the
time, which made the signage particularly difficult to see. The
images provided only show a sign positioned away from me, and I
don’t recall seeing any sign indicating that I was entering a
restriction (especially one that made it clear which direction
       was okay to go).
Based on the evidence they’ve supplied, there doesn’t appear to
be any clear signage visible to me as the only sign is facing
the camera and im heading towards it. I’ll add the images
       they’ve provided below for reference.
I’m hoping this may be grounds to challenge the PCN, as there
doesn’t seem to be proof that adequate signage was visible. Any
help on this would be really helpful.
I was using Google Maps at the time, which directed me along
this route from Blackheath. I’m really confused as to why Google
Maps wouldn’t have flagged this restriction, suggested an
alternative route, or provided any warning.
One road I almost went down had a man in the middle shouting to
stop if they don't live here and saying to turn around to not
get a ticket (but i did anyway :(. It's nuts that signage is so
bad that a man feels it necessary to help drivers be aware of
       the scheme.

I call your case a "satnav-assisted PCN". These things are never
up-to-date, and it is very unwise to rely on them in London and
       other large cities.
Can you please post a GSV link to the location. I note that the
video doesn't show you passing a sign facing you, its for
traffic the opposite way. At adjudication this sometimes wins
because the council cannot prove the signs were there on the
date of the alleged contravention. However, adjudication means
the discount option is lost, so more of a risk.
On a positive note, it has been noted that Greenwich council
seem to be in considerable chaos in their parking and traffic
enforcement department, and have not contested some recent
appeals at London Tribunals.Whether this is still the case, I
       don't know.

       Hiya,
Yes, here's the GSV. Unfortunately, it's not up to date and
doesn't show the signage and I'm unable to return to check.

Yes, what a pity GSV is only up to 2024.
I would submit fairly short reps of two sentences, basically
that the photos and videos does not show you passing a sign
against your direction of travel. Second sentence to demand
cancellation of the PCN on the basis there is no evidence of the
       alleged contravention.
