Southwark PCN for wrong registration entered on PayByPhone - any
comeback?

I am hoping that Southwark council might let me off this one out
of the kindness of their heart (then I remember who I am dealing
with).
I parked in a bay outside a friends house on Croxted Road in
Herne Hill, London. I did everything as I should have done and
paid for the time but when I returned I had a ticket.
Unfortunately PayByPhone has two cars registered for me and it
had (or I had) selected the wrong registration.
As I can prove I have paid albeit with another registration and
as I can prove both cars belong to me do you think they will
accept that? I am interested in seeing if anyone has had this
experience before. They have been paid after all for the initial
time.
I am definitely going to question it just wanted advice on how
to go about it please?

Thank you for your consideration.

Loads of people fall into this trap and most of them end up
having to pay, unfortunately. London councils are notoriously
venal and rapacious, even when like your case, they have lost no
money whatsoever. They know that if you take them to London
Tribunals, you'll lose because your case is based on mitigation,
i.e you made a mistake when entering the parking details.
Adjudication tribunals cannot allow cases based on mitigation,
after a High Court decision of some years ago.
I use Ringo a lot up here in Crewe and Nantwich and my Ringo app
has five cars on it ! So care needed when entering details. Up
here they's probably let me off, but in London forget it.

There was a time when a first such mistake was let off by most
councils but now many have decided that apps have been around
long enough to be not worthy of such a policy.
But they have a duty to act fairly and we've not been putting
them to this test.
I'll also see if I can dig out the traffic order as it may have
a loophole on the VRM.

If the boot were only on the other foot! I am helping a member
privately with a parking PCN on which the CEO entered a wrong
digit. "0" instead of "O". Guess what? They will not give way.
>:(
BTW: I would go all the way as their website is still not
completely fixed as I write.
