OK I have seen the Claim Form and been to MCOL with the details.
It looks like the only options are to Admit to the claim and pay
the claimed amount or apply for set aside.
       What should be done here?

I can only guess from your summary that the defendant has had a
judgement in default made against them.
Paying £313 for a set aside probably doesn’t make sense.
The defendant should receive a letter in due course as well. N30
I think. Should be paid within 1 month to avoid problems with
       credit.
Set aside costs nothing if a court mistake was made, but it
looks like the mistake was the defendant sitting on the claim
       form until past the deadline.
DCB Legal files the claim knowing that many of them are ignored
       like this.

Nothing to do until N30 arrives. No point in following any of
the admission and payment instructions on the claim form?

If you’re sure that a default judgement has been entered, then
it can be paid through MCOL.
I’m only guessing based on your summaries. You need to be sure.
As long as it won’t be overlooked, the alternative will be to
wait for a week or so to receive the N30 form, which will be
       definitive.
The key thing is to make payment within a month, get evidence of
payment made, and ensure the court then removes the entry from
the Register of Judgements, Orders & Fines.
If there are any doubts, you should contact the court. Don’t
wait for the N30 for too long.

I can’t see anything regarding a default judgement in MCOL.

I have been told by the RK, that MCOL has been updated with "A
judgment was issued against you on 07/07/2026 at 19:10:46", I
wasn't able to check myself, because the 7 day log in the RK
       left me with expired.
They also say that they have been getting lots of calls from a
0161 number, but they generally only answer calls from known
contacts, unless they are expecting a call.
I am not sure whether these calls should be answered. My
assumption is that they should not, and I said that for the time
being, if they happened to end up in a call, to tell the caller
all communication must be by post only.
Is there any action the RK should be taking now, or simply
continue to wait for the N30.

Contact the court or, if MCOL allows payment, do that.
If the judgment is left unpaid for more than 30 days after its
date, there will be a record on the relevant credit file for six
       years.

This is a shame as it could have been defended.

Indeed - advice is always hampered somewhat when the OP is a
middleman rather than the defendant themselves (this isn't a
criticism of Mortimer, who has my admiration for trying to help
       a friend).
