       If I were you.I'd get on with re-scheduling for a personal
       hearing after his return.
       That will give you time to get all your ducks in a row.
       Once you have changed the date, then assuming your friend is the
       RK, he should appear at the hearing but can also nominate you to
       assist him or in his absence to represent him.
