Imgur blocked in the UK

As per the subject, Imgur is now blocked in the UK.
{"data":{"error":"Content not available in your
region."},"success":false,"status":400}
Other free image hosting sites seem to work for now, although a
lot of them you need to register first to use.
All hail the OSA.

I see a slightly different message, purple/blue boxes with
"Content not viewable in your region". And now I can't even get
to the IMGUR login.
Seems IMGUR have imposed a geoblock on all UK IP addresses.
I suspect that this announcement from the Information
Commissioner's Office
HTML https://ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/media-centre/news-and-blogs/2025/02/investigations-announced-into-how-social-media-and-video-sharing-platforms-use-uk-children-s-personal-information/<br
/>has something to do with it.

I assume the starter/read-me threads would need to be updated as
most users tend to choose from the direct platforms in the given
threads.
Are the mods thinking of any such updates?
I also think there is a back-end integration with imgur today (a
plugin?)

If you need to get at your Imgur account you can use a VPN.
It was getting overrun with ads anyway.
I've long preferred
HTML https://imgbb.com
- no need to pay for it.
Create an account and set uploads not to auto delete. It allows
batch uploads of images, and has no issue with gifs under 30MB.
Doesn't seem to have ads too.

I've received a mod report pointing out that the Imgur images in
the 'Read this First' guide for the private parking forum are
not visible due to this.
When I'm at my laptop tonight and can access a VPN I'll pull the
images from Imgur and put onto an accessible alternative.

Looks like the ICO wants to fine IMGUR. See

Thanks to
HTML https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/f2jh4/i_made_another_imgur_mirror_noncaching/<br
/>any images that are already hosted on imgur can be displayed b
y
replacing the imgur URL with
HTML https://imgur.kageurufu.net/
This at least saves you from having to repost all the images
somewhere else.

Great in theory but experience teaches us that most OPs will
neglect the part in bold and the images will vanish. Sure you
can just ask them to be re-uploaded when you need them, but
frankly who has time for that?
HTML https://imgpile.com/
seems like a good alternative.

I've updated
HTML https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/read-this-first-before-posting-your-case!-this-section-is-for-council-tfl-dartme/<br

HTML https://imgpile.com/
as it's the closest I
could find to an imgur clone.
