35 in 30 - West Yorkshire
By: LondonTraveller84 Date: August 28, 2025, 3:06 pm

Guys
Managed to get a speeding ticket for going 35mph in 30mph at
A644 Huddersfield Road, Adjacent to The Malting, Mirfield can't
even remember this or the location, as it was so late at night.
It does say the following 'The speed of the vehicle on this
occasion was recorded at 35mph (not recorded for the red light
offences). - What is the latter in the bracket about, was there
red light camera that I happened to have skipped? which I
deffinitly do not remember taking place.
Question is what options do I have, I assume I'll have to fill
it in as the driver then await to see if they offer a course? No
other chance of appealing or countering?
I haven't attached the NIP as stated in the read first.
Regards

See below

You should be offered a course for that speed, assuming that you
haven't done a course for a speeding offence within 3 years
before the current (unspecified) alleged speeding offence.
No other chance of appealing or countering?
Not based on what little you have told us.

It's a standard template letter used for both speeding and red
light offences, if the camera is capable of detecting speeding
and red light offences, no speed will be shown if it is a red
light offence. So basically ignore it.
You must name the driver else you will commit a far serious
offence. There are no magic bullet defences.

Let me fill it in and send it across, I assume they'll send a
letter back informing me of what is next if its a course else if
not then the fine and penalty points to be incurred.
If I don't get offered a course, is there a way to like contact
the department or try and request a course - I believe the last
course would have been a very long time ago.

Got it thanks for clarifying on the redlight front, yep I was
the driver so I'll be putting my self down :)

We try to avoid hypotheticals (what-ifs), but I do believe that
a Scottish bloke called Mr Bell has recently invented a device
that allows for sound based communications at significant
distances. Even more recently, a system of sending something
called electronic mail was invented. I understand that it is
becoming quite popular.
Some times, courses are not offered when the criminal scum ion
question ought to have qualified. This happened to me once. I
was told that it was because they hadn't bothered to check
whether or not I was eligible. I prefer to believe that it was
related to the safety camera manger having my photo on a dart
board in his office.

An update all, Good news! offered a course, with hefty course
cost of £100 but I guess I can't complain :)
