NIP speeding, but only received after 28 days so can I get on a
       speed course?

       Hi,
I received an NIP for 25mph in a 20mph zone on West Hill
Wandsworth. I have been away for 4 weeks (arriving back on
17/08) and the NIP was sent on 18/07/25, so the 28 day limit to
reply to be able to get the Speed Awareness course option has
       expired.
The problem is that I have 6 points already and this then gets
me into the danger zone of losing my licence which I really want
       to do if possible.
The main question is - is there any way to get the speed
awareness course option even though it is after 28 days, since I
have not received the NIP (due to being abroad)? If so how
       should I go about it?
I would be really grateful of any help on this!
       Thanks!
       N

Reply to the NIP. They will either offer the course or not.
       That’s it.

Yes, reply to the s172 request immediately. Failing to do so
actually puts you at risk of 6 points and thus totting...
However, even if your reply is a day or two late they are likely
to simply process as normal - there should be plenty of time for
       a course.
(Case law is against you in regards to being abroad - there's no
       simple 'defence' there)

Thanks so much for the speedy replies. I will send it this
afternoon. I have written a letter asking for this to be
considered and also emailed the Speed Camera Team at Met Police
which I hope will help if anything. All the best, N

       I have written a letter...
[/quote]There is no need to write any letter explaining why you
are (likely) guilty of an offence.
Just respond to the s172 request to name the driver.
