       Dear Camera Processing Team,
I received correspondence regarding the Offence with reference
       above.
I would like to be heard by the court as I was going to dialysis
and might have exceeded the speed limit by mistake because I was
running late due to heavy traffic.
I also wrote to the address on top of the letter to request
       further evidence for my hearing.
Please send me the instructions I need to follow,
       Yours sincerely,
       My name
They replied with the certificates of the speeding camera and
       the details above.

My advice is that if you want meaningful advice, it would help
to provide meaningful information. When a poster simply provides
a copy of an message sent and expects us to pick the bones out
of it, I find that exceptionally helpful in determining which
threads I won't be wasting any of my time on.</>

The information about the fine is at the bottom of the email.
I thought I provided all information to be honest.
I wrote to them and sent them the back of the first page of the
letter. I only have two. when they replied they gave me that
       information and a picture.
Can you please help a nooby and tell me what other information
       you need?

I think you’ve messed up. Accepting a COFP would have been
       cheapest.
Speeding is an absolute offence so there is nothing you can say
in mitigation that will help save for a life or death emergency
       situation.

You could have taken a speed awareness course for that offence
at the cost of about £100. If you didn't fancy that, a fixed
penalty of £100 and 3 points was the alternative.
The next thing you will receive will be a "Single Justice
Procedure Notice". The police have six months from the date of
the offence to raise this and in many areas they take all of
that time. This will ask you to enter a plea and give you the
choice of having the matter heard without you attending or
giving you the opportunity to have a personal hearing.
Assuming you enter a guilty plea you will see a fine of half a
week's net income (reduced by a third for a guilty plea), a
surcharge of 40% of that fine, around £90 prosecution costs and
three points. I is unlikely the court will make any allowances
for the circumstances you describe, whether you have evidence to
prove it or not. But since you now seem committed to having a
court hearing there is no harm in trying,
Your vehicle registration number is visible on the first page
       you posted.

       Utter twaddle.
Speeding is a strict liability offence, not an absolute offence.
This simply means that there is no requirement for mens rea
       (intent).
An absolute offence is one to which there is no defence - in
other words the otherwise over-arching defences of duress and
duress of circumstances do not apply. There are very few
absolute offences. Murder is probably the most common example.
The defences of duress and duress of circumstances apply when it
is necessary to otherwise break the law in order to avoid the
risk of death or serious injury to yourself or another - so a
life and death situation would generally not be mitigation, it
would be a defence - unless the offence is an absolute offence,
       which speeding isn't.
That said, the "mitigation" put forward by most people is either
pointless or pointlessly introducing aggravating factors.

As NJ states, a speed awareness course was on offer here and
technically there is still time to book and take one.
Where you are still within 28 days of the offer, it is possible
that nothing has been done in relation to your email. While they
state you can let them know, doing nothing would illicit the
same response of issuing a SJPN c. 6 months down the line from
the offence date. So it is not certain they will have read your
email and taken any action as of this point.
Personally I would attempt to register for the course and if
successful, send them another email telling them you have
decided to take up their kind offer instead and save yourself
       some time & money.

I went to check, and the course offer is already withdrawn.
       Seems like the emails work

Then I would contact them and ask if you can withdraw your
previous demand of your day in court. You are within the 28 days
of the offer and while they have closed it as per your
instruction, it would seem a bit tight to refuse to allow you to
do the course after all. Or even pay the CoFP.
That is assuming you want to of course.

Yes, I already called and even though the case went to
proceeding they were able to withdraw and allow me to do the
       course.
I was going to post and let you know, once I book the course to
make sure all was ok. But i dont think it will be any problem.
they told me to book the course straight away.
I just thought that I could get away with it because dialysis is
a life saving treatment and that day I was very late because I
       went to the beach. lol
