(38l) Failing to comply with a sign indicating that vehicular
traffic must pass to the specified side of the sign

       Hi all,
I hope you all are well.
My brother is a new Van driver (does parcel deliveries) and was
a bit hesitant to enter the narrow space hence used the gap(can
be seen in GSV) between the two to cross and now received this
       ticket.
Ticket can be seen in the GDrive:
       Front page:

       Back page:

Can you please suggest if this ticket can be avoided?
       Thanks in advance.

Only hope is something wrong with PCN/website wording/details as
the contravention is bang to rights.

The van is about 2345mm wide and the opening is only 1980mm, can
this be used as a reason for using the way between the two?

No. Its a width restriction - It's purpose is to stop vehicles
that are above the specified width passing. That's why theres a
       red circle - It's a prohabition sign.
Even if the van is 2345mm wide, its above the 2000mm
restriction. I'm not sure what your brother was thinking passing
       this sign.
Pay the lower fine, if you've been offered one. If caught by the
       police, it'd be 3 points.

It's a width restriction to stop large vehicles so I don't think
you have a moral case... I think the van would fit in fact.
It's in any case enforced by the proxy of a keep left sign, and
it's disobeying this that is the contravention, the same as if
you drove the wrong side of a traffic island.
That said wait and see if anyone has anything on Redbridge's
       wording.

They do seem to be suggesting that the notice is issued and
served on the same date. Seeing as it's a postal PCN, they
should allow for 2 days of service.
That is the only thing I can see and it would be for someone
more expirenced than me to assit you in arguing that, if I'm
       right
Looking back the the posts im getting that info from, what I’m
referring to is a rejection of representations - It seems like
it’s all legit, unless someone can see something I’m not
