Challenging placement of a speed camera

My google-fu has been defeated.
Does anyone know of good resources for challenging the placement
of a speed camera?
E.g. blogs by those who failed / succeeded?
Most search results are related to challenging speed camera
tickets rather than the installation itself.
There's a couple of sites that cover the legislation for initial
placement but don't really cover the precise actuals of how
cameras are re-justified by police/LAs on an ongoing basis.

AFAIK there is no such legislation, merely guidance. See

Why do you want to challenge one?

The usual reasons for placing a camera - e.g. deaths/serious
injuries per year, or >X% of traffic is speeding, don't appear
to apply to one locally, so I want to know what the parameters
are for keeping such a camera, so I can request the appropriate
stats from the LA. With a view to getting rid of course.

The parameters are probably whatever the local council have
decided. Have you tried asking them?
Why do you want to get rid?
