Redbridge PCN – Unfair School Street Fine? Sign Not Visible

Hi all,
I've received a PCN from Redbridge Council for allegedly
“failing to comply with a restriction on vehicles entering a
pedestrian zone” on Uphall Road on 10/06/2025 at 15:45.
Details:
PCN Number: AF20306934
Vehicle Reg: KL18 EKJ
Contravention: Entering a pedestrian zone (School Street)
Notice Date: 19/06/2025
The problem is: I genuinely did not see any clear signs warning
me about a pedestrian zone or School Street restriction.
The images from their evidence you can see overgrown trees also
and the only sign is visible from the approach road Harvey road
where if coming from the direction I was travelling you cannot
see any of the signs.
I’ve now gone back and taken a photo (see attached) from the
exact angle I approached. As you can see, the signage is
obscured by tree branches and is barely visible until you’re
already entering the restricted area. In my opinion, this is
unfair and misleading for drivers unfamiliar with the road.
Key points:
No clear advance warning of the restriction
The restriction sign is heavily obscured by foliage
This was during the school term but I had no way of knowing a
restriction was in place
It’s not reasonable to expect drivers to spot a hidden sign and
stop suddenly
Has anyone here successfully challenged a Redbridge PCN on these
grounds? I’m thinking of appealing on the basis of inadequate
signage / poor visibility, but would appreciate any advice or
wording examples that have worked before.
I'm asking for advice as from previous tickets I now know that I
should seek help before any replies are made so to not implicate
myself.
I do have more images if its needed
