Parking eye PCN

Hi all,
The driver visited a retail complex with multiple stores on
12/06/2024. This was not the first time shopping at this
location.
Today, 24/06/2024, we received the attached letter regarding
that visit.
I understand there are several similar threads on this topic,
but I’ve started a new one to track this particular case and
receive advice tailored to our situation.
Any guidance or support would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Back of the notice, signage, any context as to how and why the
charge was incurred...

It was not the first time in this parking area by the driver and
the driver never noticed anything related to paying to park and
no letter received prior to today.
It was a surprise to receive a letter from the parking eye
today.
The place is a bit far and it will be difficult to go there
today to check if there are any parking rules in the parking
area.
Thank you

Assuming the driver shopped at the Lidl with which the car park
is associated, speaking to the management of the store is a good
first bet, escalating as necessary. It's by far the easiest way
to get the charge cancelled.
If that doesn't work and you find yourself getting close to the
deadline, I'd say there's a decent argument to be made that they
have not complied with the requirements of Schedule 4 of the
Protection of Freedoms Act and therefore cannot hold the keeper
liable. Specifically, they have failed to specify the location
where the parking incident to place - the notice refers only to
"Lidl Barnsley", but according to Lidl's website there are 2
stores in Barnsley.

Do you advise the driver approach the Lidl management first?
Thank you

Yes, contact a manager at the store. Include the reference
number and ask that it is cancelled - attach your recipt or the
transaction from your bank to prove being a customer.
If done in person, get an email to get confirmation in writing
that it has been cancelled just in case Parkingeye attempt to
still try and recover the cost.
