You need to be prepared to submit your Witness Statement by 12
June, but so does the claimant, and ideally you should wait
until you receive their WS so that you can respond to it.
On 19 June you should ensure that the court fee has been paid,
in the absence of any notice of discontinuation.
Your Witness Statement is your story, but note the requirements
as stated in the letter you have posted. Facts, paragraphs,
       clarity.
DCB Legal usually discontinue, and in this case they may do so
by 12 June so as to avoid the need to submit their WS which will
cost them money, in which case you will not need to submit your
own WS. But it’s worthwhile your thinking about the structure of
your WS in case they don’t discontinue, and you shouldn’t miss
       the deadline.

Another update to the saga. DCB have emailed today requesting I
call them about an offer to settle. As you will no doubt
recommend, I have not called them, nor have I replied to their
       email.

It’s a good sign that they may well discontinue before 12 June,
       but every case is different!

Ok, so received the following email & attachment today from DCB.
Assume that's the end of it now? Is there any action I need to
take on the back of this?
       From DCB:
       Dear Sirs,
We act on behalf of the Claimant Smart Parking Limited.
Please find attached the Claimant's N279 Notice of
       Discontinuance.
Kindly confirm the upcoming hearing on 26/06/2026 has been
       vacated.
Please note that the Defendant has been copied in by way of
       service.

They discontinued, nothing more to do.

DCB Legal discontinued before the deadline for submitting
Witness Statements, so you no longer have to comply with the
       requirement to submit yours.

pointers. Hopefully will never be in this situation again, but
thanks to you kind people at least I will have a clearer idea of
       what to do etc.
