Points in foreign driver license how to check?
DIR By: E1973

hello
I'm a EU driver living in London and driving since 2020
I drove too fast 25mph and camera caught me, it was not unsafe
but caught me.
I did one course in 2023 and now recently it happened twice
As my driving license is foreign I cannot check points lost via
DVLA
How can I check the "ghost driving account" I've seen in the
internet they take notes of offences
I need the car for my business so I need to drive
I will attend one online course in June but have a second letter
for the second offence and Im scared
how can I check how many points I have left ?
thanks in advance
Elena

Well, have you accepted any fixed penalty notices for either of
those incidents? Have you received anything from a court about
them?

I did accept in 2023 and took a course
I accepted in April 2025 and do the course in June 2025
I got another one in May 2025, same area, 25mph on a Sunday
morning...how can I check the points ? I checked in the EU
portal and none taken but I heard the UK MET police manages
another file. Thanks for your help in advance, Elena

If you’ve only ever done a course, not accepted a fixed penalty,
and never had court paperwork, you’re likely to have zero
points.

If you had any points you would know about it. If you've been
caught again then once you return the driver nomination (which
you must do) the police are likely to offer you a fixed penalty,
at which point you'll have the option of accepting 3 points, or
pleading not guilty and going to court (but in the absence of a
defence there's no point as the court will likely convict you
and give you the points anyway).
Unless you're convicted in your absence you would know about any
points you have, they don't just magically appear without you
knowing about it. This would only happen if for some reason you
missed all the paperwork and the case went to court without you
knowing about it, but as you seem to have received the paperwork
this seems unlikely.

DVLA hold the ghost licence details if you have been awarded
points. You can't use the on line licence check for a foreign
licence so you need to contact DVLA.

You should have also filed a D9 form with DVLA to register your
foreign licence with them. You can view the details of a foreign
licence (points, disq., etc) by making a subject access request
to DVLA.

AFAIK that only applies if the OP drives buses or goods
vehicles.
