       Car Insurance Extras.

When you take out car insurance the company offers extra
       services.
These are typically Breakdown Cover, Motor Legal Protection,
Higher Personal Injury Amounts and Replacement Car After An
       Accident.
Now, I have stand alone Breakdown Car cover at a better rate and
wider cover. I also have a separate RAC Motor Legal Protection
Policy covering my 2 cars at a lower premium than they charge
       for one car.
What I am missing is separate cover for the short term supply of
a car when my car is stolen, burnt out or damaged in a RTA.
Has anyone heard of this being available separately from the
       basic car insurance policy?

       Thanks for your suggestion.
I had tried searches with other words and no success.
This search brought up insurance companies touting their add on
for hire car cover as before but well down the list was a
company called Coplus who independently offered a replacement
vehicle ranging from cars through to dual controlled cars, vans
and 4X4s. I’ll get a quote from them.
If anyone else has experience with stand alone hire car
insurance I would be glad to hear from them.

Do you not have supply of a Courtesy Car as part of your normal
       policy?

I don't have that on my policy, but it does cover me for driving
a courtesy car should mine be in for repair.
What a lot of people are falling foul of these days is use for
delivering food or parcels. Mine specifically excludes such use.

Yes, I have that option on both of our policies.
I have 2 cars, mine & Mrs Coachdriver's, so I will be paying
twice to have the benefit of one replacement car when needed.
That assumes that we wll be covered so long as catastrophe does
not happen to both cars at the same time.
The separate RAC Motor Legal Protection Policy covers both cars
in one stand alone policy and as I mentioned earlier, comes out
cheaper than the Insurance company charges for one car.I was
hoping that a stand alone replacement car policy might function
       in the same way.

I always use SDP plus business use to cover both of us carrying
business things to and from work.
Fortunately we are not keen on delivering food or parcels.

I recall a couple of years ago I took the car to a different
garage for servicing as they were supposed to be Jaguar
specialists (but that's another story). They said that I could
have a courtesy car but I would need to sort out insurance. I
was pleased to find that even though I wasn't insured to drive
other cars the policy stated that I was specifically insured for
a courtesy car when my car was in for service or repairs.
