Not yet...
I've received a "Notice of Allocation to the Small Claims Track
(Hearing)"
"District Judge xxx has considered the statements of case and
directions questionnaire filed and allocated the claim and
counterclaim to the small claims track.
Unless the claimant does by 4.00pm on the 10 August 2026 pay to
the court the trial fee of £27.00 (...), then the claim and
counterclaim will be struck out with effect from 10 August 2026
without further order and, unless the court orders otherwise,
you will also be liable for the costs which the defendant has
incurred.
The hearing of the claim and counterclaim will take place at
10:00 AM on the 9 September 2026 at the County Court at Central
London, Civil Courts Sitting At The Rcj
(...)
Having considered the papers in your case, the court believes
that your case is suitable for mediation. This is a very simple
process designed to give you the opportunity to resolve your
dispute without having to attend a court hearing. You are
therefore encouraged to contact the Small Claims Mediation
Service to arrange a mediation appointment."
... but it looks like we'll know soon.
Should I apply for mediation to comply?

Please post the letter rather than selectively quoting from it.
There are things I suspect you have not mentioned which could be
important.

They will discontinue in around a week from now.
As has been mentioned, we need to see the letter as you may have
to serve other documents before the Claimant needs to pay the
fee.

Okay, this is the perfect scenario.
The Claimant has to pay the fee by August 10th - so wait to see
if they do that.
There is still plenty of time to draw up your WS if the fee is
paid.
Occasionally the fee has to be paid after Witness Statements are
exchanged which can be a pain and involves extra work.

Exactly.
The deadline for submitting witness statements is 26 August, so
in the unlikely event that the claimant pays the fee by 10
August there is plenty of time to write one.
