Private Hire Pick up/drop off guidance

       Hi everyone.
Need some guidance on the post below:
What are the rights of private hire drivers when it comes to
parking in council-regulated areas, such as waiting in loading
bays or stopping on double yellow lines? I'm looking for
clarification on what is legally permitted while picking up or
       dropping off passengers.
I ask this as at times we do get some trouble by the parking
       wardens.
       Kind regards

Is a private hire vehicle subject to licencing from the local
authority in the same way a Hackney Carriage vehicle is?

       Almost without exception
which begs the question, why doesn't the OP know the rules??

Private hire and hackney carriages come under local licencing
authorities, their priorities on the road differ. Any vehicle
can as has been discussed on here at length in the past, stop
long enough to pick up and set down passengers. If the OP is
doing either of those then he should be ok, what he can't do is
wait for his passengers for too long! Providing his passenger is
pre-booked I don't see a problem. If he is waiting for a fare on
the off chance, that is illegal, private hire passengers MUST
       pre-book through a licenced operator.
Hackney carriages (back cabs), taxis, can be hailed anywhere and
       can wait in taxi ranks.
And yes, he should know the rules.

Wuite possibly, they seem to be exempt from everything, a bit
       like cyclists.

Maybe but surely unlikely as when you book an Uber it shows you
where the taxi is and you generally book from the location you
are standing so there should, theoretically, be no excessive
       waiting time.
