Speeding on motorway stoppage

The driver (not keeper) got stopped by police for speeding on
the motorway on 7th Nov, the police took his details down and
advised he would get notice by post to the keepers address.
Till today, it still has not arrived. Can someone please advise
what his options are?

Wait for the police to decide how they want to proceed? No
further action, an offer of a course, an offer of a fixed
penalty or court.

Thank you for your prompt response, do they tend to take this
long usually? It's been a good seven weeks.

There seems to have been a communication glitch.
If the driver was warned at the roadside that "the question of
prosecuting him ... would be taken into consideration" (which he
almost certainly was), and the police have his details, then
there is no reason for the keeper to be involved at all.
The driver (not the keeper) should receive something in the post
in time. Exactly what, and the timescale, will depend (among
other things) on the speed and limit. Do you know what those
were?
Best case is the offer of a course, worst is court action.
His options will depend on what he receives, and they will be
clearly set out therein.

If court action is appropriate, they have six months to begin
action, and usually take all of that.
Again, what speed & limit? Any existing points on his licence?

I'm going to stick my head out here and say that somebody is
telling porkies.

Options are currently to either -
a) do nothing as there is nothing he can do at this stage, or
b) do nothing for the same reasons.
N.B. Please don't give us any relevant information such as
alleged speed and limit that would prevent us playing pointless
guessing games when trying to determine what the likely next
step (from the police) would be.

what speed the driver was doing when he was stopped, or should I
not share that?
I can advise that the driver has two addresses, he shared both
but was told that he would get a letter at the keepers address
and nothing has arrived at either.

in which case take the advice given above, do nothing, there's
nothing you can do at this stage. anyway, why should you worry
about the driver?

Thanks, the driver is quite young and inexperienced and off
course closely related to me hence the worry.
I have interrogated them, asked if they were given any
paperwork, did they miss anything but they insist no paperwork
was shared and the officer advised they would get a fine and
three points with the paperwork being sent within a week, speed
was in mid-80's, also got advised they should get an opportunity
to take a driver awareness course as it's a first offence.
I guess there is nothing to do but wait....

“The driver” like it’s some big mystery… they identified
themselves to the police FFS!
