Hi everyone
I was driving on Leytonstone High Road and turned onto
Harrington Road
Google Maps Link -
HTML https://maps.app.goo.gl/cpLMFdWJxmr9x5LY9
When driving on Leytonstone high road there are no advance
warning regarding vehicles not being able to turn right. As I
was turning right into a one way road, I was focussed on
vehicles coming from my left and also on pedestrians and
ciclysts and so I did not see the signs right at the start of
the road. But even If I had, considering it's a one way road, I
could not have done anything else. I`m not sure if the council
expects drivers to just reverse back onto oncoming traffic in
this situation.
It's my first PCN in 25 years so am unsure what to do.
I have attached the council's photo. Is this something that can
be appealed?
I saw a similar post to mine and was wondering what the outcome
was. i.e. is it worth me pursuing this.
Please note Date of notice is 28/10/2024.

GSV latest view is 2022, and doesn't show the actual signs, but
does show the sign back ready for the actual sign. Or it might
be one of these folding signs only displayed on the relevant
days/months
HTML https://maps.app.goo.gl/5xvqQ4n8wwjNyHcH9
There are no advance warning signs on High Road in the 2022 view

Thank you for that. I did see that. My question is if it’s worth
contesting. Ie has anyone done it successfully before?

Pleanty of cases have been won on inadequate signs for a traffic
entry restriction, especially advance warning signs to prevent
dangerous situations arising as you describe. However for this
location you'd have to search the Statutory Register at London
Tribunals quoting the street name.

Cases have won at tribunal for that location but don't expect
the council to agree with you.

I've searched the register under 'Harrington Road' but nothing
comes up. What was your search criteria ?

IMO, what a mad and dangerous layout.
Is it a carriageway or is it a footway?
It's constructed as a footway with nothing to warn pedestrians,
especially the visually and mobility-impaired, that they're
stepping onto a carriageway.
Who the hell walks along a footway glancing left and right to
check that cars aren't about to run them over?
And from a driver's perspective it must draw attention to 'I
was focussed on vehicles coming from my left and also on
pedestrians and ciclysts'.
And as for the reverse of the signs- shown in GSV as Ped and
Cycle zone ends' how is this possible if the road is one-way?
Who's going to read it, cars heading the wrong way?
