DVLA blitz in Birmingham

Well it looks like the DVLA were out early this morning in
Birmingham.
Whilst popping out to the shops i spotted at least FOUR cars
with wheel clamps courtesy of the DVLA (plus paperword stuck to
the windsceen) within a few hundred yards.
I did a quick check on one of them (half parked on the
pavement), and sure enough - no tax or MOT for over six months.
I certainly don't live in a deprived area, so was quite
surprised how many there were (and probably loads more in the
surrounding streets)!

It shouldn't be too hard for them to generate a "heat map"
showing localities with high numbers of untaxed vehicles, and so
giving their clamping contractors easy pickings.

The way that most people drive in Birmingham seems like a lot
may not even have driving licences, and the state of cars it's a
wonder how they even pass an MOT. In the city you almost have to
drive like them in order to get anywhere, or you're not getting
out of a junction, or off an island... Am not surprised one bit
at that finding! Not including you in that Boomer... unless
maybe you do drive like a brummie? :D
Give me shropshite roads any day!

Tis a common sight at the top of our road (in Brum)
Though a quiet residential road, we get commuter parking at the
top.
DVLA contractors often trawl the road and often find customers

Not a natural fan of the DVLA what with them being a bunch of
self pleasurers but surprised they don't do more enforcement.
Loads of cars around here don't have tax. Seems like it would be
shooting fish in a barrel to drive a van around with ANPR and
clamp them. Easy money.
As far as I can work out if you hypothetically drove around in
an "average" petrol/diesel car for ten years only paying the
fines when you're caught with no tax then you'd easily be quids
in unless you are very unlucky. The reason why most people don't
is because it's only an option for the unemployed who aren't
buggered if they can't get to work.
