       Hello,
I got a letter informing me that I was speeding do 35 on a 30
limit but I don’t remember getting flashed by the camera and I
don’t think the limit was 30 and don’t remember the location.

Definitely a 30 limit, here are the 30 signs as you enter the
       elevated section

You do as it says and nominate the driver. That is your
obligation regardless of your recall or observational skills.

After you respond naming the driver, you will be offered a speed
awareness course (if you haven't done one in the previous three
years) or a fixed penalty - £100 and three points.

This letter is dated 2nd July. When did you receive it?
You have only until this coming Thursday to get your response
back to the police. Later than that and you commit an offence
       which carries six points.

       That's a bit of a contradiction!

Camera flashes aren't always that obvious with more modern
cameras unlike the old GATSO. They clearly took a photo of your
car or wouldn't know it was there.

Pretty sure this section is covered by average speed cameras,
therefore no flash would have happened.

They are indeed, don't go that way often (like once in the last
15 years) and there is an issue using streetview on that road
when I tried to find them.

At the risk of appearing pedantic and/or for the benefit of the
hive mind, the 28 days to provide the required information begin
with the date of service - in other words, it's 27 days from the
       date of service.
If the case isn't nearing timeout, the police do not usually
prosecute for the s. 172 offence if an otherwise acceptable
response is received a day or two late - but if there is time to
comply with the legal requirement, there is little point risking
it, or leaving it to an incorrectly calculated "last minute".

Thank you, Andy. You explained this in another thread about a
week ago and I'd forgotten already! :)
