Redbridge Performing prohibited turn (code 50u) – Ilford High
Road

"50u - Performing a prohibited turn (no U-turn) in Ilford High
Road (A) on 13/6/24 at 7.19am. The alleged contravention was
noted by enforcement officer 071 who was observing images from a
road side camera."
I was driving on High Road in Ilford where this section of the
road doesn’t allow U-turns as clearly displayed via signs. I
proceeded to turn right into the small car park for “PRC Direct”
and after around 5 seconds, I decided to reverse out of the
parking spot and came back onto the road. For this, I have
received a PCN as council are alleging I contravened code 50u
whereby I performed an illegal u turn. My car is the Silver Ford
focus as can be seen in the video I’ve uploaded to YouTube.
Surely this manoeuvre I performed cannot be considered a U-turn
right?
This is where I turned "right" into:

Here is a video of what happened. Silver focus turning right.

We've seen this exact scenario before here, but not sure if it
was on the now defunct Pepipoo or here. Trouble is your posted
video comes up far too small to see properly. Please repost it
so it's larger.
The last case seen, it was clear no contravention occurred
because the car turned round in an off-carriageway car park.
However, I don't know how that one turned out.
Here is a more recent case on London Tribunals Statutory
Register.

However, one must be careful to completely leave the road, and
this includes the footway.

At 00.18 your car leaves the road completely into the car park.
It does not stop on the pavement.
At 00.23 your car reappears reversing.
This means there is no contravention at all as you completely
left the road.

Lovely. Should I just keep my reply to them simple?

Yes, because they'll just send the usual Fob-Off letter no
matter what you say, but if you want to win, you'll have to take
them to London Tribunals.
