Apologies for the cr@p typing (must wear my glasses)
however Ziggy (not me) didn't say you were "paying FOR extras"
he said "paying so much extra" which in my opinion anyone living
in London is, on a daily basis.
you appear to be lucky enough to avail of "free" public
transport, unfortunately not everyone can, and maybe an emission
friendly car?? luckier than most in London I suggest.

Public transport in London is generally cheaper than elsewhere,
even for those less "lucky" than me.
And the vast majority (90%?) of cars here are ULEZ-exempt.

       Quite right mickR
       I live up North.....
I'm guessing my one bedroom house would be worth a Million if it
       were in Kensington.So Rodney.....This year....."I am a
millionare."It would be a fraction of thatb in Halifax.
I live in Halifax ......we have Piece hall as a venue near us
......recently we have had the real Tom Jones and the real
       Blondie there.
       I prefer the North(although) I'm a Southerner by birth.Your
money goes a lot further.A pint of John Smiths is £3.20(free
entertainment) at my local WMC.The traffic flows mostly freely
and the Countryside of Calderdale is outstanding.
I have recently claimed my new full State Pension and it will be
the same as they get down South??
And the reason for my post...the Facebook page shows an
unhealthy amount of the PCN and ULEZ charges.Maybe the Councils
are less inclined to let anything go.You were right
mickR....this is what I was trying to illustrate.

Never has a truer statement been made!
       - Box junctions becoming standard everywhere and enforced by
       cameras and postal PCNs
       - Bus-only turns that are only in force at certain times, but on
roads that are so busy it is quite impractical to read and
understand the sign without inconveniencing traffic behind you,
who being Londoners will of course start honking horns after
       0.01 of a second
       - ULEZ (won't go into this!)
       - Hardly anywhere to park even in the suburbs, the few remaining
places rapidly all becoming residents permit areas
       - The above meaning that the few places available to park in are
heavily contested, with local residents keying cars that park
there or slashing their tyres. 3 times within a year for me,
and this is in an otherwise very sleepy and crime-free area
       - Any private residential areas now enforced by rabid PPCs and
       their despicable debt-collector sidekicks
       - I could go on!

You forgot to mention the absolutely appalling standard of
driving from the majority of drivers.😀

The one-bedroom house oop narth would be worth about £10m in
Kensington these days. Houses similar to my late parents 3 bed
council house in Fulham fetched over £2.5m recently.
