I live in France but have parking fine from APCOA for parking
hire car in train station

I parked my hire car when on holiday in Britain few month ago in
a car park at a train station. I was only there about 5 minutes
while I drop off my friend to catch the train. Now I have
receive a parking charge notice to the hirer. As I am in France,
how I deal with this? Can I ignore it because I not live in
Britain?

Can you show us the notice you've received?
Realistically, if you've no financial ties to Britain then APCOA
have little prospect of recovering any money from you.
We do sometimes see issues with hire companies paying these
charges however and then charging their customers, sometimes
automatically using their card details, at which point you'd
need to dispute this with your card provider (there are
mechanisms through which to do this in the UK, I'm not sure if
there are any equivalent systems in France).
With this in mind we can probably draft up a quick appeal for
you that will get the charge cancelled and hopefully avoid your
hire company becoming a pain!
If the hire company don't have your card details, you can
probably just ignore it.

I do not think that the hire company paid the fine. They have
only charged me a 25£ administration and they sent me a copy of
the parking charge they received. I later received a similar
fine notice addressed to me here in France.
I have now cancelled my card so they will not be able to get
more money from me. I do not have any money ties to Britain
which is why I was unsure about the fine to me in France.

It is my name and France address in the fine that they send me.
The hire company send me only their copy of the fine before they
name me.

Have you read the hire agreement to see what it says about
parking etc?
Such as referring to Penalty Notices, Speeding, Council
Penalties.
Some do not refer to private Parking Notices which are
different.

I have read the agreement but I do not see anything about a
private parking charge. I have cancelled my card that I used for
the payment. I am not sure if I can get the administration fee
returned to me. I will make inquiry into it.
