There is no "speed limit on the motorway" except the default
70mph. When variable limits are in use, they can and do vary on
different sections of road. The 1hr 27 mins applies only to the
gantry where you were photographed, and it is entirely possible
that it had remained unchanged for a long period while those
before and/or after it varied.
I ask again, did you see the limit on that particular gantry
change as you approached?

I am not sure if the speed limit changed on that particular
gantry.
My issue is the volume of different variable limits applied
through out the section of the motorway - its like they were put
in place to deliberately trick users with the constant changes
as each gantry was approached.

Highways England may provide you with that information.
It will not stop any clock ticking so you may still still
respond to the request for drivers details in time or commit a
more serious offence.

Dealing with that is one of the skills required to drive
competently in the UK. If you cannot deal with it you should
consider whether you should use variable limit motorways. It
certainly does not provide a defence or even mitigation for a
speeding offence. In fact it aggravates it because if you know
it causes you problems you should exercise extra care.

As you were doing over the highest possible limit (70), that has
the feeblest excuse known to man, not to mention that when
snapped you would be driving UNDER a gantry showing the limit
you would be checked against so the scope for confusion is close
to zero.
First rule of holes applies here.

I was seeking clarification, as your answers weren’t clear as to
whether you understood that different limits could apply in
different areas. The fact you find this sarcastic and

You know full well what you did and said.
You said ''presumably you didn't sit there and watch'' - this
was your sarcasm and you being discourteous.
Why on earth would anyone ''sit there and watch'' ?
Where are the good days of ''pepipoo'' that was a forum run
really well with fantastic community.
There have been a lot of friendly posters here but some
unhelpful ones too.

I strongly suggest that you wind your neck in, and focus on the
issues, rather than whether or not you feel you have been
treated with the deference you feel you are entitled to.

If that is correct, then I applaud you and congratulate you for

I'm sure in reflection you will consider why your response
