NIP A23 Brixton Hill Nr Dumbarton Rd N/B (4471)

Getting ridiculous now driving in london, why dont we just go
back to horses and carts. Anyway...
Probably banged to rights but i thought i would put it up for
your eyes to peruse for errors and have a little rant.
I was picking up my Daughter and last time i did so they had put
up LTN's on all the side roads where i would cut through to get
to her to avoid the bottle neck at Brixton, so this time i went
in from the top of Brixton and have not done this before so i
was looking for her block of flats whilst checking i wasnt
contrevening another newly invented restriction and checking
whether i was allowed to traverse the bus lane or not and etc
etc etc, yes i was doing over 20 clearly, under 30 until i
spotted the speed limit was now 20 on a main artery, i dont even
know where the camera was that got me but i am pretty sure when
i spotted it it would have been then i would have possibly
noticed the speed limit.
Dont think ill get off with this one but you never know.
Cheers and happy driving out there.

It looks OK. I guess if it was an April Fool they'd have told
you by now.
For that speed, you should be offered an awareness course if
you're eligible, i.e. you haven't done one in the previous three
years.

Why take the points?
I did an online* course last October. Can't remember exactly
what it cost (less than £100?) but it only took up about two
hours of my time and was no inconvenience at all. No lecturing
or talking down to you - it was just like a chat or discussion
between 6 people about speeding and speed limits.
And if you think that driiving in London is getting more and
more restrictive, doesn't it make sense to keep your points
down? Turning a course down isn't really a worthwhile show of
defiance
*Where I live only online courses are (or were) available. I
suppose it would take up more of your time if you had to travel
to a venue to do an "in person" course.

Points all go onto an electronic driver’s record anyway, so I
doubt such a reply will cause the police any concern.

It will take a little more than luck. It is no longer a
requirement to submit your licence for endorsement purposes.

For me, driving is an occupational hazzard, possibly things
might have changed since i last got a NIP, the last one where i
was offered the course was nearly twenty years ago if i recall
correctly, i rarely get caught and the difference to my premium
with and without the points was £11 and the course was held in
Hendon and cost was £200, i live in Surrey so was never going to
happen.

I am guessing that there are no avenues of appeal or reps
available to NIP's ? i just had a look at the images today, i
wasnt long turned on to the road and i cant see any large
roundals on the road from the picture, GE is not updated so cant
search there but i beleive at the point of travelling through
the camera i was under the illusion that a major trunk road
would not be a 20mph limit, my brakes are clearly applied in the
picture...wriggle wriggle wriggle...

You cannot appeal a NIP. It is simply a notice. If you want to
challenge the allegation you will have to decline or ignore any
out of court offers and see the matter heard in court.
