       Edinburgh, Code 02, Broughton Street. Fair ticket?

       Hi guys, just got a fine in Edinburgh, broughton street

       The ticket is at 18:16 on a peripherally controlled zone until
       17:30.

       The post in front of the yellow line is blank and the one below
       the big sign has some restrictions which I thought applied to
       the other side (connected via the post to the ground)
       Is this fair or not?

       The rules for a Conrolled Parking Zone is that the entry sign
       controls the restriction days and times of the single yellow
       lines within the zone, except where a sign imposes other
       restrictions. Where this is the case, a local sign must be
       placed by the single line it applies to. So here you have a
       general CPZ restriction of Mon-Fri 8.30am to 5.30 pm. However
       the short single line just after the CPZ sign has different
       restrictions and has its own sign with much more onerous
       restrictions of No Parking Mon-Sat 8am to 6.30pm, and also two
       loading restrictions within the restricted times.

       Unfortunately no, because the other side, (as you call it) is a
       double-yellow line, which means No Parking 24x7, so no sign is
       needed.
       Of  course it would have been better if the local sign for that
       single line had been place on a separate pole, but they are not
       obliged to do that provided the sign clearly indicates the
       restriction, and I have to say, I think it does, sorry to say
       it.
