London Borough of Redbridge – box junction on Goodmayes Road

I just received this PCN for driving into a box junction at the
junction of Goodmayes Road and Goodmayes Avenue.
The driver followed a van to try and overtake the bus –
believing there to be enough space – but was prevented from
doing so by oncoming traffic.

Maybe a case can be made this is a driving manoeuvre with
obvious intention to pass the bus.

Yes, a possibiity, although I think you'd need the "right"
adjudicator at London Tribunals. The car was only prevented from
exiting the box due to moving vehicles in the opposite
direction. But OP mus risk the full PCN penalty, of course.

Pretty much – the van moving forwards created the impression of
a clear road, but pulling up too close to the bus obscured the
view of the oncoming people carrier.
