Glasgow City Council PCN - Parking adjacent to a dropped Kerb at
a know crossing point - Whitehill St, Dennistoun, Glasgow.
I know I have left this way too late to get advice as I only
have 2 more days before the reduced fine doubles, but, any
advice would be greatly received.
“Parking adjacent to a dropped Kerb at a know crossing point”.
Is my van illegally parked? Is it because the front of the
bumper might be a few centimetres over the yellow end?
Are they classing the ‘dropped kerb’ the second one adjacent to
the telephone box? I appealed as I stated that the dropped kerb
was at least 6ft away from the front of the van but they upheld
both tickets.

The photo from across the street show you adjacent to a dropped
kerb, but to confirm please post a GSV link telling us exactly
where you parked.

Unfortunately you can't see the end of the double yellow in the
GSV but you can in the image above

Looks like you are parked right over the dropped kerb to me.
I see there are two PCN's, did you leave the van there
overnight, or return and park in the same location the next day?

I don't think it can be enforced as a crossing as there is
another dropped footway better placed at by the corner and the
one you were on has a kiosk.
If the van did'nt move the second one should be cancelled as a
continuous contravention.

The van was left for two days as I thought that as the double
yellow line defined the start of the parking restrictions and
the 'dropped kerb' I was parked parallel to, runs to the other
end of the road (as in they will have raised the kerb to make
the one on the actual corner more prominent - you can clearly
see where they have reworked the pavement to raise the kerb for
the corner crossing). There is a telephone kiosk there so how
can they claim it's a know crossing point?

The historic streetview images show the kerb /layout better
(2018 is free of cars and the structure/lineing looks unchanged)
It does looks like the kerbline is low for the whole length of
the street and has been raised at the start of the yellow lining
as part of the pavement buildout from the original kerbline, to
then allow it to then be dropped to create the obvious crossing
point on the corner.
I don't see how they can claim it to be a crossing point when it
is so obstructed by the telephone box, lamp post and no entry
sign post - and had it been intended to be a crossing point then
the yellow lines should have been extended to stop parking at
it.
