TfL - Code 50R Performing a prohibited right turn - Grosvenor
Road / Chelsea Bridge Road

Hi everyone,
I've received a Transport for London PCN for an alleged
prohibited right turn and would appreciate any advice before I
decide whether to pay or challenge it.
PCN Details
Authority: Transport for London (TfL)
PCN Number: GX37552871
Contravention Code: 50R
Alleged Contravention: Performing a prohibited right turn
Location: Grosvenor Road / Chelsea Bridge Road
Date of Contravention: 02/07/2026
Time: 15:19
Date of Notice: 10/07/2026
Penalty: £160 (£80 if paid within the 14-day discount period)
The PCN states that the alleged contravention was recorded by
camera.
At this stage I haven't made any representations or contacted
TfL.
I had a look at the junction on Google Street View and noticed
that the "No Right Turn" prohibition appears to be displayed on
the traffic lights at the junction with an exception for local
buses (there are no other signs before). However, the road
markings appear to include a right-turn lane/arrow.
I'd be grateful if anyone could review the PCN and let me know
if there are any potential grounds of appeal.

Unfortunately GSV is not up-to-date here, the latest view f=or
your approach is May 2012, 14 years ago, but there is an NRT
sign before the traffic lights, and the signalheads have the NRT
sign too, so if this is still the signage, it doesn't look good,
sorry to say it.
Wait a bit for others to comment, but don't miss the deadline
for paying or appealing on the PCN.

Phone them for the video and ask them to put the matter on hold.

Hi Incandescent and Hippocrates,
Thank you both for your replies.
I checked Google Street View and found that the latest imagery
from my approach is from July 2025. If you compare it with the
previous imagery (e.g. September 2024), you'll notice that there
used to be a much larger advance sign before the traffic lights
displaying the "No Right Turn" restriction, except for local
buses.
I have attached images for your reference.

Do you still think this makes any difference? Why would they
have removed the larger advance signs? The road markings
indicate that a right turn is permitted, whereas the only
prohibition currently is displayed on the traffic lights at the
junction.
In the meantime, I will ask the council for the CCTV footage.
