The maximum speed for which the police will normally offer a
course is 86mph. They are quite rigid on that. At 92mph I would
say there is absolutely no chance of a course.
A solicitor might offer to approach the police on your behalf,
but it is my view that it will be pointless. They may even offer
to represent you in court, but that would also be pointless
because the court must impose a minimum of three points (and for
that speed they are more likely to impose 4 or 5) unless they
find there are “Special Reasons” not to do so. Those reasons
must relate to the offence itself and not your personal
circumstances. From your description there are no such reasons.
I think your partner has the right idea.
