Manchester Airport Pick Up Zone fine never received due to
moving address

Hi everyone, I would appreciate some advice on the following:
I moved house from Liverpool to Manchester on 26/09/2025.
Due to a very busy week, I only changed my V5C log's address on
06/10/2026.
Yesterday I received a notice from "Trace Debt Recovery" about a
parking fine from 28/09/2025 in manchester Airport for 170gbp. I
had previously not received any previous letters regarding this.
I called the "Trace Debt Recovery" helpline who advised me the
initial APCOA's letter was sent on 06/10/2026 to the previous
address and that there is no way for me to appeal at this point.
I find it very unfair to have to pay an increased amount when I
was never given the chance to pay the original amount but I am
not sure where I stand on legal grounds?
Please let me know if there is anything I can do
Thank you very much
Michael

It’s your fault because you didn’t update your V5C. APCOA
correctly used your old address, and Trace searched for your new
address.
Fortunately, it’s our experience that APCOA don’t “do” court, so
you should ignore Trace Debt Recovery completely. Never call
these people because you then have no record of what was said.
Legally you can be prosecuted for failing to update your V5C,
but in reality this never happens.
Ignore, do not pay anything, just laugh at the increasing amount
of red ink Trace will use before they give up.

It would be worth sending a data rectification notice to APCOA
advising them of your new address for service and to erase any
old ones on file. The last thing you want to happen is them
deciding to go to court and you missing it due to out of date
address and ending up with a default judgement. Being in airport
land means you have a cast iron defence as keeper.

Also Manchester Airport is not relevant land so they can't move
liability from the driver to the keeper, under no circumstances
tell them who was driving. If it does end up in court which is
highly unlikely with Apcoa, they will almost definitely lose.
