Urgent Advice - Can I ask for a Motorway SACourse rather than
points (only 2 days to respond)

Hi I seem to have messed up again in a work van!!
Details:
29/04/26 - Alleged speeding offence in rental van - 81mph on a
motorway (standard 70mph) camera van on a bridge,
Gloucestershire Police
---- Viewed photos and then returned NIP as driver ...
12/05/26 - Letter with Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty (date
on letter)
08/06/26 - 28 day deadline to respond to offer
So I've left it really late to post on here as I'd kind of given
up but I've just read through Andy Fosters intro and noticed a
brief bit of advice about calling to ask for Speed Awareness
Courses.
So the offence is '81 in a 70' but I wasn't offered a course.
Unfortunatly I completed a SP30 SAC 4/Feb/26 (offence 9/11/26)
so that's probably why. I was hoping for a Motorway driving
course, as it's not the standard SAC and doesn't repeat the same
course. I did do a Chatgpt check about the chances and -in its
usual positive manner- said it was about a 60/70pc chance of a
course.
So my question is there any point in calling them? If I do call,
any advice on getting a course?
If I don't get a reply to this I will just call anyway (mad not
to) but as it's so late I wonder if they can extend the offer
out long enough for me to get another letter with the course on
it. I'd snap it out of their hands at the moment. Yours
desperately :-\

Struggling to see the point of your post.
Of course you can ask. Whether or not they will tell you to f**k
off is down to them. and likely to depend on whether or not they
do a separate motorway course. The only way to be sure is to
phone them and ask.

Ha well fair enough! Thanks for the reply anyway. They seem to
offer the course but I imagine it's really speeding cases with
relation to 'Smart' motorways.
We'll see. Should have looked on here sooner, always!

The description of the Motorway Awareness Course says "This
course is only offered for speed offences where a variable speed
limit is exceeded – speed offences detected where the national
speed limit applies are referred to the National Speed Awareness
Course)."
So the likely answer is NO.

Yes confirmed, they don't even have any 'Smart' motorways in
their area and they say no. Doh!
