PCN - Islington parked over expiry of paid time (05) confusion
   DIR By: cyou251

I was in Islington on Canonbury Lane and thought I had paid up
until when free parking starts - past 1:30pm. I was then given a
fine at 1:48pm stating I parked after the expiry of paid time
       (05).
I am not sure why I was given a fine but I assume it was a
'match day' however, I couldn't find any games on at the
stadium. Are concerts including in this? Should a layperson know
that a match day means concerts too and not just sporting
events? Should the council not provide info on how to check for
match days? Seems a bit too tricky for the average person to
       decipher.
Should I fight this? I am assuming many people have been through
       this already?

This is a Penalty Charge Notice by the Council.
It needs to be moved in to the Civil (Council) notices.
This one is for Private Parking Notices.
I believe you can ask the Moderator to move it or re-post it
       there.

       Read through this case.

Did you do any checks when you parked, and what was your route
       to the parking place?
I think there was a pop concert that day so not a 'match'.

Appeals at London Tribunals have been won on the council putting
up signs with "match", whereas they should have used "event" to
cover everything. I think many officials who order signs are
       "vocabulary challenged".

I came in from Upper St and checked only the sign above.
Yes I think it was a Boyzone concert and judging from the other
post you mentioned, many people have challenged this and won. I
can see the many cases cited.
I can also see from the other posts that other signs list the
dates of 'match days' but this one did not.
The other complication is that the vehicle is in my husband's
name, but I was the one who parked there. Does my husband need
to challenge it or can I do it on his behalf?

Anyone can make an initial challenge, but the next formal stage
must be addressed by the registered keeper but that isn't a
       problem.
       So you didn't answer:
Did you do any checks when you parked,
       and:
I can also see from the other posts that other signs list the
dates of 'match days' but this one did not.
This is about the controlled zone entry signs not the bay signs.
       Is this what you mean?
And no, there are no Boyzone signs although from reviews they
would have well advised to be in a different time zone.

What do you mean by checks? What more are you meant to do
besides checking the sign where you park? I took that picture of
the sign directly above the car before I received the fine. I am
not sure what further checks you need to do when you park? I did
not see any controlled zone entry signs?

Well, you parked, checked the sign - did you check if it was a
match day? Your opening post is not clear.

Yes I checked there were no games but there was a Boyzone
concert on. I didn't realise that 'match days' extended to
       concerts.
