Civil Enforcement PCN - Hotel car park - received CCJ notice
   DIR By: AC55
       Date: May 27, 2026, 4:48 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
firstly thank you for your help, I have just discovered this
       amazing site.
I as the owner and driver of the vehicle, stayed at the shurland
hotel for 2 nights in April 2025. On checking in receptionist
told me to tap in my vehicle reg on the touch screen for the
       parking which I did.
I subsequently received a PCN from Civil Enforcement claiming i
had parked illegally for the second night.
I responded through their online appeals process on their
website, providing proof of my stay at the hotel for both
nights. I realise maybe a bad option to use their system as I
did not take screen shots of any of the information. I did
receive their offical response by email with letter which i have
       uploaded here
  HTML https://ibb.co/fVqkXxhF
They claim "the driver failed to obtain a valid permit covering
the full duration of their stay." and made me an offer to
settle at a reduced fine of £20.
I made the decision to ignore any further communication from
them. I have since received a CCJ requesting payment of fine,
court fees, interest, legal costs etc. for £270. I have
       registered to defend on MCOL.
I am a total newbie at this and would greatly appreciate any
help completing the online form, i have 122 lines to submit
evidence. I realise i may not have much of a case having not
handled the matter in a very professional manner up to this
point but want to go through the CCJ process now.
       Thank you!

You haven’t received a CCJ, that’s a County Court Judgement.
Please post original PCN and N1SDT claim form and anything else,
       read
  HTML https://www.ftla.uk/private-parking-tickets/read-this-first-private-parking-charges-forum-guide/<br
/>for guidance on what to redact and what to leave alone, for
example. Also the details of your appeal, what did you say
exactly? Since it sounds as if you can’t identify this, did you
identify the driver in your appeal? It may be important.
Without all this information we’re hampered on giving you
       specific advice.
You need to note your deadlines for submitting a defence,
14+14+5 days after the date on the N1SDT as long as you submit
an Acknowledgement of Service within 14+5 days.

You need to file a defence or Acknowledgement of Service by 26
       May, ie yesterday
Since you have filed the AoS, you need to file a defence by 9
       June

I would also make contact with the hotel and make it clear that
       this situation is totally unacceptable.
Really, they should act to stop this nonsense.

I’m assuming you identified the driver, and in any case the PCN
is in time, so I suspect your defence will be along the lines
you’ve stated, that you checked in for two nights, were told to
register your car and did so, and you were not required to
register your car for each night.
Others may have thoughts too! I completely agree that you should
get the hotel to cancel this, it’s utter nonsense.

thanks for advice, I will contact hotel to see if they will
       instruct CE to cancel PCN.
Yes, my defence was simply going to be that I was a guest of the
hotel and registered my car details at reception and hence the
PCN should not be valid. I would like to submit this on MCOL
asap as I am running out of time. I just wondered if there is
any other 'standard text' that I can submit as part of evidence?

       You’ve got two weeks.
Boilerplate text which isn’t specific to your case can lead to a
defence being struck out. You don’t do anyone any favours by
       padding with extra unnecessary words.

Thanks for your advice, I will keep the details to the point in
       that case.
I have asked hotel to instruct CE to cancel PCN/claim, will see
       if leads to any action.
I'll update post with any results if the claim does progress :)

As you now realise it is not a good idea to ignore these PPN`s,
as it most likely would have been cancelled by the hotel at the
       time.
It may be too late also now for the hotel to cancel, hopefully
they will be try their best for you.
