Euro Car Parks Hornsey Rise Shell Petrol Station Car Wash

Hello all!
I was queuing around the rear of this petrol station to use
their car wash, 3 cars were ahead of me and by the time I came
out over an hour had passed. I did see signage stating that you
must register if you’re parking in the forecourt. At the front
of the petrol station there are EV charging parking bays and I
assumed they pertained to these. I later received a PCN stating
ANPR caught me not registering my stay. I appealed and my
argument was that I was paying for a service and queuing
therefore not parking. The definition of the word forecourt
also means and area to the front of a building.
I believe this is the signage:

Please can you advise how i should proceed?
Thanks!
Paul
Anyway their reply was as follows:

Association Single Code of Practice, the

Are there clear signs

As you say, you were not parking in the forecourt.

Yes there is clear signage,
HTML https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-nuwqC_KNKqaJNtm2ua2UpaHJXH4niNxLrfo3mzX9zw/edit?usp=drivesdk
upon driving in i saw a guy polishing his washed car in a
parking bay and assumed they meant this parking and ignored the
sign as i was indeed paying for a service. I think it might be
easier this time to pay that 20 quid!
