This is written with my new pencil from school, my mother
immediately burned the old papers when she saw them. That was
really mean but I will be more careful this time. Even though
today's my birthday she did not open the door... it's always so
dark in here. I barely have enough light to write this down. But
I think I am becoming 10 today! ...Happy birthday, Zoey.

She still did not open the door but keeps insulting me as witch;
just because I have red hair? I can't say for sure but I believe
it's raining outside. It's very rainy this time here in Dublin.
I really would love to go to school again after this weekend...
I've been thinking about what my mum said on the phone
yesterday. It was so loud I could hear it to my room. She always
screemed "You just ****ed off, you f***er and left me alone with
her!"... over and over again.
She seemed to be crying but I could not hear who the other one
was. I really would like to see my friends again.

My mum didn't allow me to but I went outside secretly, she
forgot to lock the door before there was a phone call and I
managed go outside. I am still hiding here... Should I go back?
What should I do here now?

I ran away from my home... I don't know where I am or where my
mother is. I don't even know how to go back home but I don't
want to know. I was hungry but there was that friendly man who
gave me some food and I could rest at his house he said.

Last night... the 'friendly' man did things to me... Things no
man has the right to do. I am writing this down because you are
the only friend I trust you now. However I paid him back for
what he's done. I will move on now and hope for a warm shelter
soon -- maybe somewhere near the seaside.

I've been in this small town for four years now. But today
something strange happened. So many people from outside the city
ran inside and started to barricade all exits quickly! The sky
looks strange, there seem to be gaps or something somewhere and
so many flashs... Even the tough men seemed to be scared when
they came in, they told about 'strange creatures, like aliens!'.
I don't know if I can believe this but I think it'll be better
not to leave this place for the next time. Well, since I got a
job here it's okay though.

I could manage to catch a view outside. It really looks bad. The
city also became much bigger because so many people are
searching for shelter here. They are running away from these
creatures out there... I really don't know how to describe them.
Many of the people who come from outside seem to be hurt. Some
even died due to their wounds. I hope this is going to end soon!

Oh god! What is that?! There are those giant creatures coming
through the strange gabs from the sky! They brought large
robotics with them. I'm hiding in this dark house... this
reminds me of my childhood. I still can hear many gunshots but
we seem not to have any chance. I can hear them dying...

They came into the city... Even though there are guards and
large barricades they just smashed it. They overran our city in
a few minutes even though it became really large.
They took many men with them and killed so many people!
Randomly! Especially many of the young ones, it's so horrible...
They set up new barricades around the city and some new
buildings. They seem to isolate the city entierely. The new
barricades seem to be unbreakable and their new large building
very seems pretty much high-tech.

I got 'relocated' to another city. It's called City 18. I never
heard about that city before but there seem to be more of
them... I could not write while that endless traintrip, they
don't like it. I'm already missing my friends in the old city.
Here are many of those 'Civil Protection Units', as they call
them, even though there were only some very rare ones in the old
city. They don't seem friendly at all with their gasmask and the
urge to hit every citizens witht heir stunsticks.

It's been a long time since I arrived here, in this city. It
seemed to have became even stricter, the citizens seem to be
depressed. Somehow, I would not even know when my birthday
was... Anyway, something strange happened today. I met a man
named Desmond Wike, he secretly told some certain people about
rebellious propaganda against the combine laws... I overheard
that.

Desmond spoke to me today. He said 'he has been watching me for
a while'. That sounds creepy but he mentioned a resistance group
that disboeys the combine laws. He asked me if I would want to
help and gave me some time to think. I honestly don't know if
this is a good idea. It seems dangerous...

When Desmond asked me today for my decision, I said 'yes'. Yes,
I will join the anti-combine group. Someone has to resist them
and get free! It's a really bad life in this city and I wish to
get out of it sometime. It's just a dream but it might be true
someaday...

Desmond did not lie. He introduced me to the other people from
the group, the 'Shepherds'. I wonder who invented that name,
sounds ridicolous... Anyway, they are really giving me a chance
to resist the combine and Civil Protection! We don't have guns
but we can still do rebellious propaganda! However their leader
is a man named Sam Fisher, he is good.

It's been a while since I joined the shepherds and they are
saying I 'Proved myself worthy'... Well, I got some good
training the last days, I hope this will continue. We also found
out some interesting information about suppliers in the city...
Whenever we hit a loyalist, a citizen that supports the combine
force, we always kill them. I once asked why we don't torture
them or try to get them on our side but Sam just said "We are
not animals."

We found that strange man in that strange bar in this strange
city, he seemed to be a black market dealer and we could get
some better supplies for our money. We have a better chance now.
We have also been studying the behaving of the Civil Protection,
we are trying to get out of this city.

We've been watching the Civil Protection units the last week
exactly and know their routs. There must be a weak spot on their
system. We might get it soon...

This air out here... it seems so fresh and healthy! We managed
to escape from that city! This is a great day, nobody died even
though I hardly could manage to get anything with me. Well, at
least I got this diary...
It is quite beautiful out here! Freedom, finally! It might not
be safe due to multiple combine choppers and other creatures,
but would you rather be safe or free?

Barely wrote the last month, quite busy out here. We are being
attacked so often by OTA, it's awful. Too many losses already,
we are even planing to go back to the city. **** damn it, we put
so much effort in the leaving of the city and now we just have
to go back? Great...

There we go, we are back to the city again. But not City 18 this
time, we are here in City 23... the old Dublin. I have quite bad
memories of this place but it changed... fortunately. Even Sam
was born here. We are planing on getting more recruits -- there
were too many losses in the outlands... We even lost Desmond--

We got the first few recruits, the first on is Johnson Coman,
nicknamed 'Combine Harvester'. The next one was Robert Coman,
another good member. Both of them will fit in well. It's
important to get lots more new members to increase in strength.

Today, something strange happened. When Sam came back from
scouting, he got a friend with him. He looks quite young and
acts strange. I don't know what's up with him but hopefuly we
might know soon.

The new member, Kenny, today we found out what he is able to do.
He said he was some kinda vortigaunt project for the combine, he
managed to get out of there and now he seems to have some...
vortessence abilities. We saw him taking out Units like ants, he
is very worthy.
This was just a brief summary of Zoey's backstory. Still,
whoever read it all- Thanks man :)

Sam...he's dead, I don't know what to make of it. Me and Coman
have decided to have a dual leadership. He seems quite capable
for the position. I wish Sam didn't die..
