[center]Guide to Rebellion Roleplay
The Rebellion Summary
The Rebellion, Heros, God's Warriors. It doesn't matter what you
call them or what you say about them, they are a ray of hope for
Citizens in this dark world. The Resistance is a powerful covert
network of humans and Vortigaunts with the shared goal of
defeating the Combine and restoring their freedom. The
Resistance was formed shortly after the Seven Hour War in
response to the Combine takeover. A loose band of guerrillas,
outlaws and spies dedicated to overthrowing the new world order,
they were unable to take on the alien empire directly. So the
Resistance instead worked at undermining it by infiltrating the
ranks of Civil Protection, smuggling weaponry, setting up a
sophisticated underground with bases at Ravenholm, Black Mesa
East and White Forest, and by helping civilians escape the
Combine controlled cities.
Helpful Hints
Let me start off by saying this, The Resistance is not something
you can simply apply for and expect to get in. You are chosen by
a Resistance member because you stand out. And do NOT take this
the wrong way and decide to go off and try to kill ten Metros
with your bare hands. No stop that, it's obnoxious, rude, and
you will be considered a fail. This means simple stuff such as
graffiti, ripping down posters of Breen, anything that is big
enough to get the Resistance's attention, but not the Universal
Union's. Remember that they are always watching, so stand out,
but not too much. And if you do end up getting offered a
position as a Refugee, take it. Rebellion RP is a fun new
experiance and everyone should get to do it at least once. Now
like I said before you are a REFUGEE not a REBEL. So this means
you will help them with minor things, not that you get to run
balls first into the Nexus, shooting anything that moves. I'm
not trying to discourage you, only give you helpful insights.
How to Roleplay
I am going to say the same thing that I do in all my other
guides, I cannot tell you how to RP, only reccommend thing to
do. Now that that's out of the way, let's say that you actually
DO get offered a position as a refugee. First of all, you are
not Gordon Freeman's long lost brother and can take on armies of
Universal Union soldiers! I cannot stress enough how important
it is that you do NOT act like you are the baddest mother ****er
out there. It's a major RP turn off, and you will most likely
get kicked out. Don't go around asking for assignments left and
right. Just remember that the Rebellion is a Discreet group of
people who use intelligance and wisdom to attack the combine,
not blunt force. The Rebellion is obviously outmanned and
outgunned, that's the reason they don't charge into the middle
of the city in broad daylight, guns blazing. Reguardless, what I
am trying to say is be humble. Wait for someone to recognise
your potential and MAYBE just MAYBE you will get an assignment.
Frequently Asked Questions
I have Resistance RPed for a while now and I have come across a
vast majority of questions. There are a few that people ask over
and over. So I'm here to set it all straight and simple.
Where's Gordon Freeman?: Ahh the question that every new player
to Half-Life RP asks... *Sigh* Well if you would like the
logical answer, GMan placed him in a stasis after the Resonance
Cascade subsided. He was then withdrawn from the Dimensional
freeze in time when Half-Life 2 occured. Simple answer? He
doesn't exist yet.
If I kill a CP, will I become vested?: It depends, I mean if you
assassinated the SeC and you LIVE... Well the answer is quite
obvious. But I mean if you shoot a Recruit while he wasn't
looking and didn't have a side-arm... No. Basically what I'm
saying is it all depends on the circumstances.
I have been a refugee for a week now! When will I be vested?:
All I can say is patience my child. They more than likely have a
good reason for not promoting you. And if not... Well then talk
to a well respected Vested.
I'm a Vested Rebel, where's my gun?: Due to the rarity of
weapons, not all rebels get guns, or any weapons for that
matter. Sit back and relax, wait for someone to reward you with
one for good behavior.
Ending Words
Wait for the Resistance to notice you, don't go looking for them
Resistance RP is more passive than Action RP
Don't cry if you don't get Vested the first day you are a rebel
Stand out, but not too much
Don't act like the next Gordon Freeman
You don't need weapons to RP
If you **** off the people you are going to save or are getting
saved by, you bet your ass you are going to get kicked out
I hope you all enjoyed my guide, read my other ones when you get
the chance
