       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Stone Put: (Free Women Only)
Throw the stone as far as possible from a designated area,
       behind a line.
The Throw: The stone is held to the neck before being driven
       forward, aiming for maximum distance.
The Stone: The throwing stones weigh 2.50 stone each (gorean
stone measurement which is equivalent to 10 lbs. earthen)
       Rules:
You have 3 posts to try and throw one of three stones farthest
       down the lane.
You have to roll a 1d100 for distances
Longest distance throw is your entry.
If you roll a 1, that attempt is called a foul.
**This game was adapted from the Spear Toss on the PoD Forums,
thank you for your ingenuity! I altered the game to make it fit
a more Feat of Strength game that fit a Northern home better.**

ALL: Kardelen had wandered the square for a time with Corso,
seeing to the final details of the Companioning preparations,
before making her way back toward the heart of the Festival. By
then the fires were fully lit, flames roaring high and casting a
warm, flickering glow across the packed earth. The air hummed
with laughter and shouted encouragement. Men strained beneath
heavy stones in the feat of strength, while nearby the women
gathered along a separate lane. She’d heard in passing that
their contest was similar—stones cast for distance rather than
carried—smaller in size, but no less competitive.
When she reached the throwing lane, she paused to listen as the
rules were recited. An attendant stepped forward and set three
stones neatly at her feet, just behind the line. Each one looked
to be roughly two stone—about ten pounds by Earthen
measure—solid and smooth from countless hands before hers.
“Alright,” Kardelen said, glancing down at them, then back up at
the attendant. “So I simply take one of these and throw it as
far as I can? Form doesn’t matter?”
“Correct, Lady,” the man replied, already taking a prudent step
back—well clear of any wayward throws.
She nodded, then bent to lift the first stone, a soft hum
escaping her as she tested its weight in her hand. It was
heavier than it looked, cool and reassuringly solid. Squaring
her shoulders, she took one step, then another, stopping just
behind the line as she drew her arm back and flung the stone
forward with a sharp exhale—eyes following its arc as she waited
to see just how far it would fly.

ALL: The stone proved heavier—and more stubborn—than she had
anticipated, but when it struck the packed earth near the
halfway marker, Kardelen nodded to herself in quiet approval.
Not bad at all. A few murmurs of encouragement drifted from the
onlookers, and she felt a small spark of satisfaction warm her
       chest.
She bent to lift the second stone, fingers tightening around its
cool weight. Corso remained where he was, close enough to keep a
watchful eye but wisely well clear of the throwing lane—he had
no interest in testing his luck against even “small” flying
       missiles.
Drawing in a steady breath, Kardelen stepped back once more. One
step, then a second, her boots crunching softly against the dirt
as she gathered momentum. With a firm twist of her shoulders and
a sharp exhale, she hurled the second stone forward, putting her
weight behind it in hopes it would sail farther than the first.
Her blue-grey eyes tracked its path, intent and focused, waiting
to see where it would land.

ALL: Her second stone sailed far farther than the first—so far,
in fact, that she startled herself. It landed just shy of the
final flag marking the highest scores, close enough to draw an
audible reaction from the crowd. Both Corso and the lane
attendant applauded openly, and the man even called out that it
was the furthest throw they’d seen so far that evening. Kardelen
laughed, shaking her head as a faint flush warmed her cheeks.
“You’re both just relieved the stones are going down the lane,”
she teased lightly, “and not slipping from my hand to fly
       straight at you.”
With that, she bent to take up the third and final stone. It
felt familiar now—heavy, solid, demanding respect. She rolled
her shoulders once, grounding herself, then stepped back as she
had before. One step. Two. Then forward again, boots biting into
the dirt as she gathered her momentum. She swung her arm and
shoulder in a smooth, committed motion and released the stone,
watching with bated breath as it left her palm and flew down the
lane, all her attention fixed on where it would finally come to
       rest.

ALL: The final stone landed solidly, though it fell just short
of the halfway marker. Still, Kardelen rolled her shoulder once
more and smiled to herself. No one had been maimed by a wayward
throw, and she considered that a victory in its own right. The
second stone had flown true and far—far enough that she felt
confident it would place her well among the other women. Either
way, she was satisfied. Those stones were no small weight, and
she’d more than proven she could handle them.
With a contented breath, she stepped away from the stone-put
lane, leaving the flags and scattered markers behind. Corso fell
into step ahead of her as they moved on through the square,
weaving between firepits and clusters of onlookers toward the
next set of games. Her gaze settled on the axe-throwing lanes, a
spark of curiosity lighting her eyes. They had smaller,
specially made axes for the women, she noted—and she found
herself smiling at the thought. It might be entertaining to see
       how those flew as well.
       Highest Score: 84!
