       way through the village.=-
ALL: After returning to Freeport, Kardelen made her first stop
at the warehouse where her ship was being built. She needed to
inform the Shipwright that all the orders had been placed—the
timber, the fixtures, every last item he’d requested. And
everything should be on its way to Freeport soon. Once her
message was delivered, she stepped back outside and pulled her
cloak tighter around her shoulders with a soft sigh.
A sharp chill hung in the air, the kind that bit lightly at the
nose and warned of snow close on the horizon. She could smell it
coming, the way Northerners always claimed one could. Shaking
her head, she set off in the direction of the healing hut. With
the ship business handled, her attention returned to the work
waiting for her. She needed to prepare more salves today, and
the healing hut was the best place to do it—close at hand in
case anyone injured wandered in seeking help. She hoped for a
quieter day; the last time she’d worked in the hut had drained
       her to the bone.
As she walked, her blue-grey eyes lifted toward the sky,
watching the clouds gather and shift above. She needed to speak
with Martin soon about their upcoming patrols—something she
found herself genuinely excited for. The thought of traveling
into the woods beside him again warmed her far more than the
cloak around her shoulders, and a small smile rose to her lips.
With that warmth carrying her forward, she continued on toward
       the hut.

ALL: Having made it on the ship back to freeport and then
stumbling my way along the docks then the path that had brought
me to the hut. Thanfully one of the slave girls I had met in my
first visit here remembered me and she had helped me into one of
the exam room and up onto one of the tables where there the
aches and exhaustion, both physical and mental had gotten to me
and darkness had claimed me leaving me laying there out cold on
one of the exam tables and letting my body finally start to heal
       itself some

Lady MinaCaste of Mercha: When she reached the healing hut,
Kardelen released a soft sigh—one of the slave girls was already
waving her down, eyes wide with urgency. Kardelen lifted a hand
to steady her before the girl burst into anxious rambling
anyway, spilling out a disjointed explanation about a woman
asleep in one of the treatment rooms. “This isn’t an inn,”
Kardelen muttered under her breath, more weary than irritated.
She hadn’t treated anyone this morning; no one should’ve been
occupying any of the treatment rooms. With another sigh she
moved past the girl and began pushing open doors one by one.
On the third door, she found her answer. Mina lay sprawled on an
exam table, fast asleep, for someone who she had not treated
recently, she looked far too deep asleep for someone who didn't
quite belong here this early. Kardelen leaned against the
doorframe, “Mina… what are you doing in here?” she asked,
exhaling softly as she did so.

--|Primum, non Nocere|--: Having been in the hut for a time now
but knowing how busy Kardelen was with all her duties it wasn't
surprising this was the first that my presence was made aware. I
was dressed differently from when last you had seen me, these
garments too big for me almost as if they weren't mine but had
been acquired hastily. My hair was a tangled mass with some bits
of debris in it as well as unkempt and dirty. Dirt and bruises
were seen on my face as well as on the bare parts of my arms and
legs that could be seen from how my garements were laying atop
and against my body. Chest rose and fell slowly with shallow
breaths and I was deep in a sleep and had been for a time as my
       body tried to heal itself

Lady MinaCaste of Mercha: She wasn’t sure what had happened to
the woman—Freeport wasn’t Kar, but danger still drifted through
its streets like smoke. Brigands, outlaws, pirates, and all
manner of desperate souls had passed through the village at one
point or another. And Kardelen was not in the habit of asking
questions. That silence, that careful lack of curiosity, was
precisely what made her sought after. Pirates trusted her
because she never spoke of what happened inside her infirmaries.
“Mina… lady, wake up.” Kardelen’s voice grew more insistent now.
This was not an inn, and the woman had absolutely no right to
commandeer one of her treatment rooms for a nap. She folded her
arms. “Please don’t make me have a slave girl fetch a bowl of
water,” she warned, only half teasing.
Crossing the room, Kardelen opened the cabinet of supplies and
retrieved a small vial of smelling salts. She snapped it open
with practiced ease, then stepped back toward the exam table.
Leaning in just far enough, she held the cracked vial beneath
Mina’s nose—then immediately stepped back again, well aware that
a startled patient could swing first and apologize later.

against the table. Eyes blinking a few more times turning my
head looking about trying to remember where I was and hoping my
aching head would settle and my vision clear. A few more blinks
then my eyes focused some and I saw you there and my lips

Lady MinaCaste of Mercha: She took in Mina’s condition with a
slow exhale, dropping the spent vial of smelling salts into the
waste pail by the wall. Only now, with the haze clearing, did
the full picture settle in: dirt smeared across her skin, hair
tangled, clothes rumpled and clearly not her own. Kardelen’s
brow creased. “Lady Mina,” she murmured, inclining her head in
greeting even as she folded her arms across her chest. “Please
tell me what you’re doing in one of my exam rooms—and I dearly
hope you haven’t brought more trouble to my doorstep.”
Gods knew Kardelen already had enough of her own troubles
simmering, especially with ghosts from her past still sniffing
after her. “I’m willing to help,” she said, voice gentling
though her posture did not, “but you’re going to have to tell me
everything that’s going on.” Instead of moving to Mina’s side,
she lowered herself into the vacant chair by the wall, hands
resting on her knees. For now, she would not lift a finger—not
       until she had some answers.

as well as maybe a new home as well. I was comfortable at the
first ones I visited and thought things were going to continue

forgot my place and was given the choice.....and only by the
grace of too much drink and carelessness was I able to get away

borrowed some clothing and used the few coins I found as well to
make my way here. I was a fool Kardelen, I was beaten, tossed

Lady MinaCaste of Mercha: Kardelen listened, letting out a soft
sigh as she shook her head. With a sharp snap of her fingers,
she summoned one of the slave girls, who immediately hurried
into the room. “Yes, Mistress?” the girl asked, hands folded,
       awaiting instruction.
“Bring Lady Mina some food,” Kardelen said, her voice gentler
than her expression. “We’ve little choice today, but oatmeal,
whatever fruit we have, and a pot of tea will do. And find her
some robes—proper robes. If you must go to my cabin or the
market, then do so. She needs clothing that actually fits.” The
girl nodded quickly and darted off, her soft footsteps fading
down the hall. Kardelen rubbed her temples, exhaustion threading
       into her movements.
Her gaze lifted back to Mina, steadier now. “Were you enslaved?”
she asked, her tone unreadable—neither soft nor harsh, but edged
with the weight of practical concern. Traveling Gor as a woman
without guards… she knew all too well how easily that road
turned dangerous. “Is there some man who will come looking for
you?” she continued. “Someone who’ll storm to my door demanding
I return a runaway piece of property?” Cold words, perhaps—but
necessary ones. Kardelen wasn’t unkind, but she had learned the
cost of helping the wrong person. And she would protect
herself—and Freeport—before she welcomed trouble blindly into
       her infirmary again.

Lady MinaCaste of Mercha: Kardelen nodded as Mina admitted to
having been enslaved, a heavier, wearier sigh slipping from her.
Moments later the slave girl returned with a tray, and Kardelen
took it from her, setting it on the counter. She pressed a small
pouch of coins into the girl’s hands and tied it to her belt
herself. “Go to the market. A full set of robes, a cloak, and
shoes,” she instructed firmly. “And not a word of what you’ve
seen here. You know my rules.” The girl bobbed her head, eyes
wide with obedience, then hurried out—door opening, closing,
       silence returning.
“Aye… well, let’s hope not,” Kardelen murmured, turning her
attention back to Mina. She stepped closer now, examining her
more critically. “Where did you go that things ended like this?
How badly are you hurt? Any bleeding, or is it mostly bruising?”
Before the girl had hurried off to the Market, she'd brought in
a tray with oats, tea and fresh fruit, which was now waiting on
the counter. Kardelen meanwhile reached into the cabinet again
and pulled out a small jar of salve and a vial of pain tonic,
placing both gently into Mina’s hands. “You’re a merchant,
aren’t you?” Kardelen asked, one brow ticking up. “Why not work
with Herrena and Alucard here? They run half the trade out of
Freeport between the two of them. No need to wander off to
gods-knows-where and end up like this.” Her words weren’t
scolding—just edged with that blunt concern she seldom
       sugar-coated.

Lady MinaCaste of Mercha: Kardelen shook her head lightly,
though she nodded at Mina’s explanation. “I understand the need
for a wide network,” she said, tone gentler now. “Trade doesn’t
move if you only keep to one corner of the world. But you also
have to be safe. I don’t even go to the larger markets without a
trusted guard these days…” She let out a slow sigh and lowered
       herself back into the chair.
“If you’re struggling to focus, the pain tonic on the counter
will help. Drink it, then eat something. If your head was
knocked around you could very well have a concussion.” She
gestured toward the tray. “Eat, Mina. My girl will be back with
proper clothing soon.” Kardelen brushed her braided blonde hair
back over her shoulder before fixing Mina with a steady,
       assessing look.
“Who was the man?” she asked quietly. “Who did this to you?” Her
expression softened, though her voice remained firm. “And after
you eat, get a room at the inn. Somewhere warm. Somewhere safe.
Put yourself back together.” Because in her current state—torn
clothing, dirt-smudged skin, disheveled hair—anyone with eyes
might mistake Mina for a runaway slave, and Kardelen would not
risk someone dragging trouble into her doorstep again.

vaguely at Mina’s state, the borrowed exam room, the tray of
food “—this is how women end up in collars. Traveling
carelessly, chasing deals with no coin to protect themselves.”
She clicked her tongue in disapproval. “Just be more careful.
       That’s payment enough.”
She let out another sigh, this one heavier, and began putting
away the extra supplies she’d taken out. Her movements were
brisk, practiced… but edged with tension. “Remember—no amount of
coin is worth your freedom.” Her voice softened on that, though
the truth of it hung in the air between them. Kardelen crossed
the room to the kettle, pouring herself a cup of tea with hands
that were steadier than she felt. She needed the warmth, the
grounding. The morning so far had taken its toll on her as well.
She turned back to Mina, leveling a thoughtful but firm look at

Lady MinaCaste of Mercha: “Good.” The word left Kardelen
quietly, but with a note of approval. In that same moment her
slave girl returned, arms full of clean, well-fitting robes, a
cloak, and proper shoes. Kardelen nodded for her to leave the
clothing on the counter, and once the girl slipped out again,
the healer settled back into her chair with a watchful eye. She
studied Mina closely—too closely, perhaps—tracking every blink,
every wavering breath, every hint that the woman’s fogginess
hadn’t entirely lifted. People didn’t simply fall asleep in
strange rooms without reason. Not unless a concussion,
exhaustion, or fear had pushed them past reason.
“Now,” Kardelen said, lifting her tea for another sip, “until
the rest of your memory returns… what exactly are you planning
to do? Where will you go from here?” The question wasn’t unkind,
merely practical—and edged with the caution of a woman who had
seen too many wanderers ruin themselves through carelessness. “I
can loan you coin.” She set her cup down, fingers tapping
lightly against the clay. “But you need to establish yourself
somewhere. Get your feet under you. And if you insist on
traveling wherever the winds toss you…” She inhaled slowly and
shook her head. “Then you’ll need a trusted guard.
One—preferably two—you can count on. You've seen now what
       happens when you go without.”

--|Primum, non Nocere|--: Slowly eating and drinking a bit more
then the slave returned with clothing for me. I smiled my thanks
to her then gently slid off the exam table landing on my feet
and swaying a bit as one hand lifted to my head still feeling a
bit woozy and the ache there. I removed the dirty tattered ill
fitting garments and donned the fresh clothing that had been
brought. I took my time and also had to pause a few times while
getting dressed to let my head clear and the ache there subside
some. As the clothing settled on my form I felt more myself but
still the worry concern and memories where there. I listened as
you asked about my next plans. "I have coin. If I can send a
message to one of my associates I have have coin as well as a
wagon and other items I need brought here. I am going to get a
room here at the Inn and stay here for a time Kardelen. I will
send out messages to my network to see what can be found out and
just what all is known about what happened to me."

Lady MinaCaste of Mercha: She let out a small breath of relief
when Mina agreed to stay, some of the tightness around her
shoulders easing. Freeport might not have been the safest corner
of Gor, but at least here Mina had allies, and Kardelen wouldn’t
have her wandering off half-broken and half-aware. “Good,” she
said, gentler now. “Get yourself cleaned up. Give your mind a
chance to settle. Truly—Freeport is a good place. They’ve
already built a strong trade network, and Alucard and Herrena
       are solid people.”
She moved to tidy a few stray jars on the counter, but her eyes
flicked back to Mina all the while, assessing, weighing. “They
took Martin and me in when we fled Kar,” she continued, “so why
not make this your home as well? It’s as good a start as any.”
Her head tilted slightly, curiosity and caution mingling in her
tone. “Or do you already claim a Homestone somewhere?”

Lady MinaCaste of Mercha: “Aye, that they would,” she agreed
with an encouraging nod. “Find yourself a shop in the Market,
set your trade up proper, and claim Freeport as your home… why
not?” Her smile tilted wryly beneath the fur-lined hood. “It’s a
touch cold here, I’ll grant you that—but aside from freezing
your fingers a bit in winter, you’d have active trade routes
between here and the mainland at your doorstep. You truly can’t
       go wrong.”
