Hi everyone! Tomorrow i plan to go perfume sniffing at stores...

I'm not going to buy anything (I wish..lol)...I am trying to
learn and recognize notes and get better about fragrance...I am
planning to bring a note pad and write down what I smell,
etc....any tips or advice about how to train my nose, practice
would be greatly appreciated!! TY!

I say be careful not to test too many too close together.
Bringing a note pad is a great idea! I like a little blue
journal that I used to take with me. I'd get some cards and
maybe test a few on skin, then I would find a good place to sit
and write down what things smelled like to me. With the cards, I
would put them in the book with several pages separating them to
keep the scents from getting blended together.

A few stores such as Nordstrom will do up little samples for
you.

Nordstrom is like The Land of Oz for fragrances HOWEVER the
sales people are very very aggressive -- but you have to
schmooze them up for samples (I got some great By Killian
samples that way!) . Nordstrom has the full line of BOND No.9 !
If you can bring a friend along as a "distraction" that would
help a lot (you can "discuss" things with your friend as to
deflect from the pushy S.A.).
If you make it to a SEPHORA - they do samples with no aggression
(they make no commission I guess?) and you could possibly get
them to make 2 or 3 for you (the sample bottles they give are
refillable and can be used over and over !).
Bloomingdales is also an oasis (they have a full line of Jo
Malone, Juliet Has a Gun, Clive Christian (SUPER EXPENSIVE) ,
Tom Ford, Hermes, Kenzo, etc. ) but again- those pain in the
neck S.A.s......just leave me alone to sniff!!)
Well have fun & come back with a pocket full o' samples !!!

I managed to test 10 in a day but that meant time in between 3-4
because my nose would just stop working. have fun and enjoy.
Take a notebook with you. most of the time. the sales folks
won't mess with you if you tell them you're smelling and working
on a project wink
